Need alot of help.
Firstimer, Pretan. I started pre taning with my wife 2 years ago and we sit on the beach all day and never burn. Still use sunscreen. I'd upgrade in the Marriott to a harbor side sweet it's worth it. Havana Blue food is excellent. But expensive, try the special 8 or ten course meal( look online) the chef hooks you up and they will pair cocktails every course. Even if you don't splurge for dinner at H blu go for happy hour. Half price apps and some cocktails for sunset at the bar was our dinner many nites. Also look in the vaca books for a 10% coupon good at the bar or dinner.
rent a car & when you do ST John Take the first car barge over. Pretan.....Take bug spray

Also on Sapphire beach there is an area call pretty klip point out past the pool that looks straight over to STJ which would be an excellent place to pop the question! (The point is where the white beach chair is)

Firstimer - If you are truly fair skinned do NOT believe the stories that "pretanning" is going to do much for you. If you burn under conditions at home then do NOT think that a few hours on a tanning bed is going to protect you from the Caribbean sun or that you could sit on a beach for more than 30 minutes max without protection.(You WILL regret even 30 minutes on a sunny midday.) Under no circumstances should you try to sit on a beach all day without being diligent about sun protection or you will ruin your vacation and have the wrong kind of memories associated with your proposal!!! I'm fair skinned too and use SPF 50 or higher, wear a hat, sit in the shade when I can and still wind up with plenty of sun while going in and out of the water, etc. Two years ago my friend's husband decided to hit the tanning bed before we went and even though he did use a sunscreen (SPF was only in the 20's) he wound up with sun poisoning before the end of the week. His eyes swelled shut and he had to spend the last few days sitting under bushes at the beach wearing long pants, long sleeves, shoes, socks, dew rag and a hat so that he didn't get any more sun. Also be aware that certain medications (diuretics, antibiotics) can intensify the effect of the sun so you might want to ask your doctor before you go if you are on any medications. I take a diuretic, but I stop taking it (with my doctor's permission of course) when I am on St John so that I don't burn to a crisp. Please don't let anyone play a cruel trick and ruin your trip!!!
