I'll put in my plug for the Panasonic Lumix FX3. It's small (shirt-pocket small), has an outstanding Leica lens, takes really great 6MP pix and has great battery life (rechargeable with very compact charger). I also carry a 60GB photo ipod that seamlessly sucks the pictures out of the camera when the card is full. Easy as pie!
