What you're doing is so cool. It will be a tremendous help to travellers. I wish I had the tech savvy to be of any help to you, but I don't.

I can help "proofread" if that's helpful? I notice that there's a Starfish Market Shopping Center noted just NW of what actually looks like the Starfish. Maybe there are two Starfishes, and I'm just not aware. Also, Sogo's, Candi's Ribs and Hercules Pate could be added.

If this newbie point of view is at all helpful, PM me and I'll continue to look :)
THANK YOU for going to all this trouble!

Best. Idea. Ever. EVER!!! I had been keeping track of some villa locations on Google Earth. It's actually kind of fun to try to figure out the villa locations by the photos of the villas. You need to get the villa rental agencies & owners involved to map out their properties. To have a comprehensive list like this could be a real "game-changer" for this site, Anthony. Looking forward to seeing it implemented.

Just an update from me - I am running into various issues with the content management system I am using. I did get a map working, using the API and a Google spreadsheet. Good news is that I can easily get the coordinates from the MyMaps that you all have done. What we are trying to do is work this into the new review system, so on our map, you'll have icons with locations, and when you click one, you get the details, and a link back to the site for that place, with additional info, and "comments" which will become the new "reviews"...

Anyway - I think it can work, be useful, look good, aggregate all the comments for a particular place on one page (something like that villa and dining review fans have been complaining about for a while), etc. So - I will keep plugging away. I think I may need more help with some descriptions, photos, etc. but most of the locations you all seem to have down already!

All- In order to correct for all the shifts in lat long that took place about a year ago, I am going to import some of Jimm's pushpins, he has already done the corrections.

Some of the new pushpins will be lost but I am going to try to add them back in. This won't happen again...please bear with me as I make this transition. The changes will all be done tonight and no more interruptions after that...sorry in advance if anyone gets pissed about loosing a pushpin....

Sherban,

I added villas that were on the Google maps to my Google earth before you made the switch. I have edited Google maps and put back in the lost villas. Hopefully I got them all.

Sherban,

I have found a minor problem with using Google Maps. The number of villas we have marked goes into a 2nd page. The problem is it will only display the pushpins for the current page you are on. So if a collaborator is going to add a villa they need to check both pages to make sure the villa is not listed on the 2nd page otherwise a double posting of the villa can result. I have caught a few double postings.

Yep I saw that.....this is where it might make sense to "break" the maps into sections...like---North Shore, Coral Bay, etc.....

Hey sherban, sorry to be dense but how do I add a pushpin? I opened the map using the link you sent via email, found "my" villa, and then couldn't figure out what to do. (I tried Googling for the answer, but couldn't find it.)

Thanks!

I think you have to set up a Google Maps account first...no charge or credit card needed, just an email address.

Once you are in....then just click the "Edit" button at the top of the list of Villas and then three "buttons" appear in the top left hand corner of the map, the middle one is to add push-pins....click it and the push-pin will follow your cursor...

Cheers

Hey Mr. Sherban!
I'm loving your map and would like to add pushpins to some of the villas. You said the middle button in the left hand corner of the map is a pushpin, but when I place it on the map, it is a blue placemarker. Will it turn into a yellow pushpin when I press done? I don't want to screw up your map!
I've got 2 tickets to paradise~Pack your bags we'll leave tonight!
