I bought our tickets for April on Sunday--we are going out of BOS and have a non-stop on the way down (yay), connecting through Miami coming home. Price was $379 on AA, not bad.

The flights we're taking are currently running at nearly $900 each. sure, it's Sat-Sun, and it would be cheaper mid-week, but sometimes, only weekend flights work in your schedule.

US Air, on occasion, seems to be less than Delta...but the planes smell really bad (or so I've heard ;-) )

I've pondered the 3.5 hour drive to Myrtle for future flights. It's that bad to go from RDU to certain locations.
It is the same situation to fly from Gainesville... Delta to ATL or US Air to CLT or drive 2 hours to Orlando or 2 hours to Jacksonville for cheaper fares. In flying to STT on Delta we would still go through ATL from any of the three!

Has anyone noticed changes in Delta FF miles? In the past we paid the lowest number miles by getting tics further out. Now, the "cheap miles" are only showing up for the next few weeks - when there are redemption fees attached. Much harder to make plans and save either dollars or miles. Of course, I have only been looking at flights to STT in this regard.

Philly direct and back, bought months ago 420.00 PP. We're going April 28th and coming back May 8th. That's a deal considering that we bought tickets in May of 2008 at 750.00 a piece. T.imes 12 people

There's so great deals on tripadvisor if you're flexible. Wish I could squeeze 2 trips in.

Most of the lower cost return flights leave at 7:45 or 8:30 am from STT. I have to check a bag (dive equipment) so making it there in time would be tough. I hope some of the better flights come down in price!

What good prices most of you got. We're going April 17-24th and paying just under 450.00pp non-stop from JFK. Right now they're @ 798.00 for same flt. just checked. When booked our cottage, prices were 325.00pp and we decided to wait, few weeks later went up to the price we did pay and decided not to wait anymore, could have kicked ourselves for not booking at 325.00.
Would check airline & find out their pricing policy in regards to fares going lower,(get a credit, refund etc). If so, would book it now and hope the price goes down, at least if goes up you're ahead of the game.

It's a hard call and wish you luck with it.

Sherban, looks like will be there at same time. Maybe run into you for a drink together.
No ticker anymore. Next vac will prob. be the Fl Keys.

They changed all their rules. I got bent over and wasn't even offered a smoke afterwards when we booked. I ended up having to buy $200 worth of miles just to get the 3rd ticket. My 3 tickets cost more than the first 6 that I had used on 3 past trips.

AA, BOS - STT, non-stop both ways, $440, April 19th - 26th. We have done better in the past, but not bad for non-stop each way.

We bought our tickets for Feb 20-27 in June of last year and paid $767.00 for both from IAD to STT; yesterday I checked the very same flight and two tickets were over $900.00!!! I couldn't believe it. I don't think there is any hard fast rule; but I start checking prices just as soon as I can after each of our trips in February for the next February's visit and any time I find them anywhere near $300.00 I grab them. For what its worth...that's what we do.

On a personal note...what was the real kicker for us is that AFTER we bought our tickets my boss (who owns two private jets and also has a timeshare in STT the exact week that we do) offered me a ride on his jet in February and we had already bought our non-refundable tickets plus have another couple going with us so I had to turn down the offer...and I kick myself every day for that...here's to hoping he asks me again next year!

Absolutely we should try to meet sometime. We are staying on STT this time but we could take the ferry to STJ to meet(I'm sure we will sometime anyway)
