JT, I had a somewhat similar story. When my wife had our second child we had a big snowfall that night. Being the loving housband that I was I cleared the street infront of our house and steps. It was spotless. The morning we left the hospital we pull up to the house to find that the snow plow had tought the empty spot was a great place to put all of the snow from our block.

Hoosierdaddy, I think those snowplow drivers look all day and all night for cleared spots like yours. They get some kind of a perverse laugh out of doing that!

All those cute dogs in the snow pics reminded me of this shot. At first glance it could be mistaken for snow. Actually this pup was playing on Vie's beach.

I love to be on STJ when it's snowing 20 plus inches at home! Yep... I'm a snow lover.

Snow?? Yuk!! That's why I live in South Texas. I just have to dodge an occasional hurricane.

I love snow and sand but I don't think I could live in either one.

I was in the poconos this weekend and it was very pretty with snow.

But.....I hate it. That's all I have to say about that.

We are supposed to get snow here on Saturday. I have my fingers crossed. 2-4 inches would be nice.

Today we have got the first real snow, and outside my windows it looks so beautiful - I love that!

But it prevented me from coming to fitness because many roads are filled with trucks, which have
troubles climbing up the rises. And I don’t know yet, if I also have to change my plan about buying Christmas presents today .

So I must admit that I don’t unconditionally love snow

It is pretty, better than brown grass and bare trees. But, driving in it in not fun! I would prefer maybe one month of it with the other 11 tropical weather.

Iowaguy...I recognize the Maroon Bells in your photos. Great photos. We've had our share of snow in these parts of CO so far this year. I like snow, except when I can't fly my family home for X-mas. I like snow except when we have a snow day and I have to cancel all the sub teachers for the day. I like snow except when I need to drive somewhere for a meeting or something. Other than those reasons, I lived with lots of snow in college in the UP of Michigan for years and when we couldn't drive, we snowshoed.

Maybe we're getting older, but my husband, who loves snow, is getting tired of it. We don't own a snow blower, we hand shovel...for the exercise. But when he, the snow lover, gets tired of it...I'm so done. Maybe that's when you know you're getting ready for retirement and a warmer climate. Still will visit snow, but not live in it. It was -17 here last week.

Anybody else in this situation?

Terry, I'm just short of 50 years old, and that's what's happened to me. I didn't give the weather one glance until just the last couple of years. Except for a really major weather event, I never had any idea what weather was predicted, and I didn't care!
Now I check the weather a couple of times daily, in the winter.

"Potentially Big Storm" heading our way. As I said earlier, DC area doesn't do well with snow.
We are also always on the cusp" or the dividing line of these storms. The prediction is now ranging from 2inches to up to 2 feet. The saving grace is that it is coming in on a weekend.
Me? I think that there's a pretty good chance of a drunk front moving in!

Sounds like you got "the storm". How many airports closed down? Major airline traffic problem this creates all across areas. Sorry to say we here in CO with the help of Canada probably sent it your way.

We refer to these storms as our "hurricanes". Mix up a couple and enjoy!

We have 20+ inches.It stopped sometime after midnight, but the wind is blowing the stuff much deeper in places. We are pretty much buried, though I did keep up with shoveling a little at a time so it shouldn't be too bad today.It's totally quiet outside. The silence is as pretty as the snow to me. I feel bad for the retail merchants. I'm of the mindset that you never really make up for the lost business from a storm like this.
I'll try to put up some pics later.
