6:21 what a slacker  Don't ya just love early mornings on St John. Yea DH loves to dig his claws into ya when he's chillaxin. We always put a towel on us when he sleeps on us. Just curls them right into ya as he purrs away. That is one spoiled cat.

Had to laugh about the shark encounter. Remember my first non nurse shark encounter . Pretty sure I sharted myself. Once I gained composure I did go on the hunt for him to no avail. I was pretty far out so I couldn't seek the saftey of the shore.

Oh Minde! -I have never posted a comment on a TR but your report is priceless! I can feel your joy and wonder through your writing. I could read your stuff forever. I am especally interested in your comments on Cruz Views #1 because we will be in that unit in two weeks. We are also early risers and tend to be back at the villa by 4pm-ish so I am concerned about the heat you referred to...but that being said,I am trying to live by the philosophy "it is what it is." I am just so glad to be "going home" for the 17th time (2nd time this year)that it's all good.... Craving your next installment!
I believe there is magic here...

No, we never got to a hardware store when they were open. It was HOT though. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

I am finally getting the chance to check out your TR's and I am loving them. Your shark encounter is one of my biggest fears but I guess I should try to realize that with all the sittings here I have only read of one that was a bit too curious. I do have to admit that ya made me laugh. Thanks! Gotta get back to your reports now!

Wow, I never realized that would actually happen (peeing in your pants if you're scared). Great story and funny (since it didn't happen to me!)

Minde I love your trip reports

Minde,

Your trip reports have been so delightful. You have really brought St John alive for me, until you said the "S" word. Now, I've never claimed to be able to walk on water, but I sure would be trying! My worst fear. I've snorkeled a few times, Key West and Key Largo. In Largo as I was ready to jump off the boat stairs, I saw a dark shadow pass directly underneath me -- shark! I had almost jumped on him. Hesitantly, I slipped in, swam over to hubs, but that image kept coming back and I got out!

Hope I don't run into any sharks again! That's way out of my comfort level.

All the best,
Beth & Mike

Great trip report and pics. I recently saw a old photo of St.John titled shark fisherman. 2 guys on a boat with at least 5 dead sharks. I like to think that there are still people fishing shark on STJ. That means less in the water.
We have not tried Vie's yet but it's on our list. I hope not to see a shark.
Thanks for sharing.

Joppa, there are still people shark fishing on St. John. Miss Vie asked me about the shark, the next time we went there, and I told her the story. She was a bit surprised, too, but said that she'd also seen, "in town," a fisherman who had caught two of them. She said she noticed them, and parked to watch them unloaded. Then she asked Cleve what kind of sharks they were, and he said they were the kind that might hurt you.
All that being said, I am not afraid. I needn't be...I'm sitting in an office in NY. LOL.
I did go back in and snorkel every place we went after the shark encounter. And I can't wait to get back and do all again!
And Miss Vie's is FANTASTIC! I love the beach and the food :D

Minde Glad to hear that someone is fishing those sharks. I would not want that job even if it is in STJ.

That was a GREAT day at Miss Vie's-- I know, I was there. :) Yep, that was my friends and I "posing" for Steve Simonsen's shoot at Vie's that day. Earlier that day we were joking about beach fashion and "beach chic." Little did we know... Oy.

I wish we would have introduced ourselves! Next time!

Minde great report and I can relate to the shark, last year I was a bit intimidated after snorkeling over one at about 7 feet we looked at each other I went which ever way he wasn't going! More than likely a large Nurse shark. I have enjoyed all of your reports and great pictures.

Take care

LMG! That's great! Bet you were surprised to see that pic in our report. I can't believe I forgot to pick up a copy of the Times. Did you? It was supposed to be this last Sunday's issue.
