As long as what you are bringing doesn't look like a severed appendage, you should be okay.

True Story: We were flying with friends of ours in our plane (so the 3 oz. liquid rule does not apply, that becomes important in a minute). We had to go through customs in West Palm Beach and as we went through, they pulled our friends' suitcase and told them they had to open it up because something "suspicious" showed up on the screen. Matt and I are sitting there, a cold sweat breaking out on our foreheads thinking...Do they have drugs? Guns? A Parrot? What?

The security guy then pulls out a GIANT battery operated device AND a 16 oz. tube of lubricant. Everyone got very, very quiet as he simply put the items back inside.

I couldn't look them in the eye without laughing for days....

I say, pack what you will and if anyone "pulls it out" (no pun intended), just be prepared to shrug and give them a big grin.

and I thought it was bad when, in PHL, I had to explain the presence of leg weights and the Travelocity gnome in my bag (Rehab for a knee injury and because it's fun (in that order))

Yep, well, ahem, we carry on all of the necessaries. Those 3 oz travel bottles at the Container Store are good for everything. Lets just say we've never had a problem with a four cell underwater flashlight.

OK, true story.

I picked a friend up at the airport once a few years ago, and she had one of those suitcases that you attach the strap to and pull it by the wheels once you get it from baggage claim.

So, I am in a rush to get back out to the car before I have to pay to park and my friend yells across the baggage claim:

"Hold on! I have to get my strap on!"

I thought a woman sitting in a chair nearby was going to have a stroke.

I will put my neck out there and offer up that we put that stuff in our checked luggage all the time. Batteries removed after a little "incident" with leaving them in

Also, I wouldn't let your question stop you from going to the meeting....I give you props for being comfortable enough to ask before just packing them without knowing what may happen. I actually called the airline before my first time packing things and they were totally cool with me!

I leave the batteries in and no problem...
When we went to Hawaii I packed a BOD (battery operated device) and tucked it in Crash's pants pocket when I packed. I forgot it was there. I wanted it one night and couldn't find it anywhere. I just knew some TSA dude was having a good laugh as he passed it around to his buddies. The next night Crash went to put on his pants and when he put his hand in the pocket he said, "WTF??"
You might have thought he found the freakin' Holy Grail!!! I was so happy! I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our vacation!
