Probably news to the people of Afganistan.

Now that we are bombing the Moon, we know where the troops will go after Iraq.

Even Michelle Obama's mother said "Really?" when she heard about it.

Donald Trump will be awarding next years prize in Atalantic City, since the Peace Prize is now a Beauty Contest.

Gotta go before the gates at the next RR Crossing go down.

It is a rainy gray friday in Hoosierland and all I wanted was to check out the forum and read about the magical land of St. John.
I cannot believe anyone would post such offensive material.

In his NYT Op-Ed piece the other day entitled “The Politics of Spite”, Paul Krugman observed that “at this point, the guiding principle of one of our nation’s two great political parties is spite, pure and simple.”
Check out how Fox and the radio talk sideshows spin this news and you’ll see just how cogent this observation is.

Seriously? We can't disagree now?

If you don't want to read political opinions, don't click on very obviously political threads.

FYI- this thread was not "highjacked" by Dave. He only disagreed.

The absurdity is immense and disturbing.

You're right Lysa. I stand corrected. I thought I was having fun and joining in the sarcasm, but apparently I was wrong. Apologies to Dave and anyone else I offended.

(the "hijack" prize...certainly not the Peace Prize as this thread will eventually demonstrate)
Congradulations DaveS007 :!: :!:
I'm honored. Thank you all !!!

To quote one of my favorite movies of all time, and with all due respect,

"Lighten up Frances"

I thought the hijack comments and my trainwreck photo were all part of the sarcasm funfest.
As we have all learned from experience, that is the direction that posts such as these take on this board. I think we were all just trying to lighten things up.

Don't get me wrong...I voted for the guy. (But, truth be told, I really wanted to be able to vote for Hillary instead.)

Be that as it may, here is what I don't understand. Obama officially took office on January 20. The deadline for Nobel nominations was February 1. Okay, I know that January is one of those months with 31 days, but, seriously, how did that guy get nominated, let alone win, based on that?

I can see why so many wonder why in the hell did that award go to this guy at this time. Selfishly, for my own political agenda, I am glad he got the award. But, it does feel kind of hollow.

I'm embarrassed this man is the Commander in Chief of our great county. Where are those 40,000 troops he said he'd send to Afganistan, during his campaign? He's had McCrystal's request for troops on his desk since Labor Day, and NOTHING. Now that he's won this "award", we'll just see more troops killed because he won't want to be seen as a "non peace keeper". We have to have the troops to WIN. He never talks about winning. We're at war, for God's sake. Isn't winning the whole reason we're there? Not just to die for nothing. When the next 9-11 happens, people may wake up, but now we think we're safe. We're not. The Taliban are not people you can negociate with. They are animals. They shoot women for NOTHING, and then haul their bodies off the soccer field and play the game. Do you really think we should ever trust them? No way. Their purpose is to destroy the Western world. This man is not what people thought they were voting for.

I totally believe he does not love this county. He constantly apologizes for it. God, give me a Ronald Reagan!!!!!!!!!!!! Reagan LOVED this county and deserved this award. Obama doesn't deserve to wipe his ass with Reagan's TP.

We are headed for diseaster. Mark my words.

Re-read your post when sober and ask yourself if you really meant half of it.

Report back.

Wow. Diseaster? As Anthony suggested, let's not drink and post. Everyone, have a good night's sleep and we'll pick this up in the morning.

Is that your best shot, to call me drunk? I thought you were more creative than that.

Not everyone on this forum is liberal, but the libs usually have the loudest voice. I don't give a crap what you think of me. I love my country, and I'm going to stand up for how great it is, despite our Prez, who constantly puts it down. Again, I'm ashamed of who represents us. He doesn't respect our military at all. How can you call him our Commander in Chief? He's leaving them twisting in the wind, and they are loosing their morale Can you imagine being in the line of fire and you know your President doesn't care? Can you imagine being the parent of a man on the front lines and he's a sitting duck, because our Prez won't do what he campaigned to do?.....win the war in Afganistan with more troops?

We have a major difference in opinion, so live with it.

What I don't understand is why the personal attacks on the president for being given an award which by all accounts he did not seek out. If you're angry... direct it at the Nobel Committee, not the recipient.

Because he is a dope and this award is a laughing stock including at us, and the idiots who voted for him.
