Anyone else get the Sunday NY Times?
Well, now you've clearly hit below the belt (kidding). Taking on my Sox in a not so subtle way?jmq wrote:Ah...no worries. At the risk of hijacking the thread, it's a sunny day, I'm doing well after some surgery last week, and Yanks are 7.5 up, so its hard to ruin my good mood. Jeter had a crazy August - hope he doesn’t wear down. And what a pleasure it is to watch Mark Teixeira day to day – he is the complete package.
And does anybody else besides me think that the Angels getting pitcher Scott Kazmir is a great move that may have significant playoff implications? I don’t have a feel for how the Sox play the Angels, but the Yanks always struggle with them already.
Oh, and by the way, as any Mets fan will tell you, good luck with Billy Wagner.Pray they dont have to use him in a big spot.
This is a score that will have to settled in the cool of the October evening. In a short series, your guys will still have to beat Beckett (hoping he has figured out how to keep the ball in the yard by then) and Lester, who is probably the best lefty in the game right now. Yes, I would take him over CC.
Not to mention that in three years, the Yanks haven't yet figured out how to deal with Youkilis (nobody has, really), Papi still kills the Yanks, and Victor Martinez has close to 30 RBI's since the trade.
As for Wagner...I have no idea how he will respond in a big spot. I do know that since he's been here, he's been absolutely dominant. Add that to guys like Bard (who comes out of the pen throwing 99-100, and Paps, and like I said...Looking forward to seeing you in October.
Oh, haven't even mentioned Pedroia...I wouldn't trade Pedroia for 10 Robinson Cano's.
And speaking of big spots (playoffs)...I have one word for you...AFraud.

I'm with you Pip. When I started reading the article (thank you for the link) I was trying to decipher whether the writer was critical or supportive of Pou. Then soon I didn't care as I was caught up in the story and I tried imagining what it would be like to be functioning on no sleep in desperate circumstances and trying to make a rational decision about a truly life or death situation. I have no idea how I would react under the same conditions. By the grace of God most of us will never know how horrific that experience was for everyone involved.pipanale wrote:...I don't even know if I describe it as heartbreaking. It's horrible to even think of having to consider the options those medical professionals had (or didn't).
It was awful, but I can understand both sides of the story.

My thoughts: I kept asking myself "What would I have done?" I have no clue. I don't think you can even think about it unless you're in it.chicagoans wrote:Then soon I didn't care as I was caught up in the story and I tried imagining what it would be like to be functioning on no sleep in desperate circumstances and trying to make a rational decision about a truly life or death situation. I can't blame/fault anyone on those situations. Without the experience, it's hard to do so.
