Great trip report! We have yet to see turtles when we snorkel. 2 questions for you.

-What kind of camera do you have...great pics!
The camera for underwater was a panasonic TZ5, with an underwater casing. The casing was more than the camera. And I have a sad story of that coming up in part 3--the camera did not make it home with us.
The other camera I have is a Canon rebel XT. I was suce a bad photographer (really excited to eb there) that I did not check the my ISO (film speed) everything was shot at 800 was was not good for the sunny weather. Oh well, guess I need to go back!

Now I have to be honest. Great view, nice place, but it is on the small side. As a family we get along (my kids like each other), so we were fine. I say this because it does get tight and folks may need some space. Of course there is a great balcony and large beach to get away.

Someone mentioned about being brave, it really was confidence built before I got there. I read this board everyday (I even went back to the beginning of the year for trip reports) this really helped. I said to myself, lots of folks do this, we can as well!
I will have part 2 up this weekend.

Great report, Paul! I'm with you, on the confidence built by reading here. I did the same thing.
The lip fish is reallllly funny looking!
Great idea on the lasagne. I'm going to do that next time. Last time, I brought goulash and pulled pork for quick meals, and plan to bring more quick meals in October.

Funny they named it for the back and fins...did they not notice the lips?

This Hogfish also has some lips. The fish is about 3,5 ft.

I loved the Wikipedia entry! It does make you wonder.

Thanks, we are planning on buying our first underwater camera for our next trip. We are not sure if we are going to wait and buy it on island or bring it with us.
