Shoot, Mrs. JT & I come back with scabs on elbows from the bar at Shipwreck. I'm not sure in the many, many hours that we've been there we've ever sat at a table. Like I said on another thread, it is one of my favorite places on the planet to have a couple of drinks, converse with locals and visitors of every description, and a few years back Russell did a hell of job in the kitchen, and the last time MJ was the chef and probably gave us the best meals we had on STJ that trip. Also, Donna and David were, for my money, two of my favorite bartenders anywhere. But best of all is the interacting with the people at the bar, followed by some great live music. For those that have had bad experiences, I'm sorry for your bad joss. But hey, it can be an art form just to get a parking place, much less a couple of bar stools, so if you think that you should stay away, it might break Pat's heart, but not mine!

We were there the first week of May, and had such a good experience early in the week that we went back. And had another great meal. I hated reading those bad reports, and I'm delighted that Pat is taking them seriously. Wish I could go back tonight!

Before we had our daughter Shipwreck Landing was always our First-Night-On-Island ritual. We'd get groceries, change clothes and head to Shipwreck. We'd order fish and chips every time. The atmosphere of the place always started getting us on island time and the frozen chocolate/raspberry pie always finished the meal. We've always loved the place and had 2 wonderful meals there in June. We always recommend it to people.

Bad apple at Shipwreck?

Post by ShipwreckPat »

Thank you all so very much for your kind words regarding Shipwreck. Thanks to DJMoM, Gromit and Flip Flop, with a little nudge from Bevm, for bringing this problem to my attention. Also, with all their help, I have found the problem child. She is off on an extended vacation with some apparently unearned money and will have a lot to answer to before being rehired.

This Forum is so amazing and full of truly caring people. I can not thank you all enough.

Pat - you are the best. Back on the list! ;-)

Thanks for taking the concern seriously, I am really glad we mentioned it and you got to the bottom of it!

It was so TOTALLY out of character for your establishment.

Pat,

I have been in customer service for the past 20 years for IBM, Hilton, and FedEx. Customer service comes in all forms and your note on this forum is one of the best written examples I have seen. I have never had the chance to visit your restaurant, but will make it a priority on my next visit. Cheers to you and your continued success.

I want to second what soulville said.

From a PR standpoint Pat has done all the right things and it is much appreciated.

I'll be sure to stop by again (hopefulLy when Pat is around!)

Every business has issues/can drop the ball on occasion. It's how they respond when notified to correct the situation that is the difference maker. Well done.

I guess it's hard to be spot-on 100% of the time.

We ate lunch and dinner there serveral times during our May trip. We LOVE shipwreck and have NEVER had a bad experience. Sure some evenings when the dining room was packed we had to wait for our dinner - but we certainly understand that the kitchen is only so big and don't expect a speedy meal. The wait staff has always been friendly and pleasant.

Keep up the good work Pat - we'll be back again in December.

I had read the reports before I left and we decided to head to Shipwreck anyway last week. It was absolutely delicious and perfect. We all really wanted to get back for another meal, but didn't have time to repeat. The drinks are probably my favorite on island and the fish and chips is wonderful. Pat, I asked if you were around, but they said you were at home! Sorry we missed you and glad you got to the bottom of your problem child!!
