My husband and I stayed at La Dolce Vita in May and absolutely loved it! We rented the efficiency and it was all that we needed. It is right on Coral Bay and there is a walkway down to the water. The views are amazing and Fernando and Dorothy were great to work with. He also has a 30ft. boat and will do charters if interested. You can find the efficiency at vrbo.com/99306. We can't wait to plan a return trip!!

Valley View is in Fish Bay (Drumbiker just stayed there)

Sailview in Coral Bay - Fabulous
Wintermoon - excellent, Roy and Peggy are great and Finn their white labrador is wonderful and currently the dog in the Ralph Lauren ads for Kohls :)
Just Enough - we will be neighbours as they are next door to us - but you arrive via a different road but we can still "talk" to each other if we talk loudly enough :)

Here's a few; have stayed at none, booked at one:

Anchorage Aweigh - has a full kitchen, a/c, wifi and a pool being put in as I type :) It rents through Windspree, but the owner (seagrape) has been great in responding to emails and pms.

Stoneharbor Cottage - seems to have a lot for the price and has good reviews (I emailed with a couple that have stayed there several times.)

Tradewinds Cottage - I've had this one on the list for awhile, but it seems to book up fast. Well within the budget

Island Cottage - this looks great, but no A/C was a deal-breaker for us. Although others have said it is not needed.

Are you all booked at Guavaberry?

As Pia said, I just spent a week at Valley View and was very pleased. No A/C, nice pool and good kitchen. Small deck with gas grill. Fish Bay Estates is just about 10 minutes on the South Shore Rd. into Cruz Bay and if you use Gift Hill Rd. to Centerline you can get to Coral in probably 15 - 20 min. Not bad for either considering you average 20 MPH on the island!

Thank you, thank you ALL for your great suggestions. I will check them out more in detail. I'm sure we'll find something that suit us and our budget (it's not for free to fly from Europe).

And yes jayseadee, we are booked at Guavaberry. You need to book really early to get a one bedroom villa there in the period we have been going.

Hi Maggy,
I stayed at this place last year and loved it. It's on Ajax Peak Rd just past the smoothie stand. It's called Paradise on the Rocks.

Here is the link to my pictures of the place.

We stayed at Just Enough and think we made the better choice.

There are stairs to/from driveway but they weren't really that bad (I'm really out of shape).

Really well maintained and beautifully handcrafted.

Lotsa banaquits to feed, didn't need AC, great view from shower, comfy bed, lotsa deck area, comfy outdoor furniture, good kitchen, quick drive to restaurants/stores.
Lysa, can I ask you how Just Enough is when it comes to the sun. Is it a lot of shadow or is there any sun on the deck? Where more exactly is it? Where do you turn off and drive up?

Thanx/Maggy

"how Just Enough is when it comes to the sun."

In January, in general, there is sun on the front decks (looking out to Coral Bay) from AM sunrise til a little past noon, maybe 1pm. There is more shaded areas on the side and back decks. The lower level (living room/kitchen) is surrounded by deck. The upper level has 3/4 deck. So, there's plenty of option depending on what your preference is. No sunset though.

"Where more exactly is it? Where do you turn off and drive up?"

Driving down into Coral Bay, it is the last left turn off of the main road before you get to the bus stop/signs. Bout a 1/8-1/4 mile before you get to the bus stop/signs. Once you tunr off, you drive up one or two switchbacks and you're there!

Here's another suggestion. Creolla on Ajax Peak. Quick drive to Coral Bay and short drive to North Shore. Great deck and views.
