First Timers Arriving Tomorrow Afternoon - FINALLY!!!!
First of all, Congratulations! You're going to love St. John!
As to water being a rare commodity, that usually refers to tap water, showers, toilet flushing and things like that. St. John relies on rainwater to fill each home's cistern, therefore, don't let the shower run while you're using it, for instance. You'll see signs that say, "Here in the land of fun & sun, we don't flush for #1"
When it comes to bottled water, I've never had any problem finding a variety to choose from.
We always take cash. It just makes things easier. For purchases at places like Freebird & St. John Spice, we use our credit card.
When it comes to ferries, one thing to think about is that if you drive to Redhook, you'll get to see some of St. Thomas along the way. If you go from Charlotte Amalie, you don't get the same scenic drive. I've always gone from CA until this time, when we drove from Frenchtown to Redhook. I really enjoyed seeing some of St. Thomas.
I hope you post some pictures when you get back!
