Your favorite villa "pets"

Our favorite pet stayed with us during our stay three different years at Guavaberry on Virgin Gorda. We did not stay at the same house, but everytime we came home, she waited outside our house. Most of the time she slept inside. She used to have a home, before the lady in the family died, and after that she moved around. She was very sweet and used to people. Unfortunately she died in January 2008, so the last time we were in Guaveberry it was so empty .

Mr. Iggy at Sea Stone. As stoic as he appeared to be, he was a character. We got a kick out of him especially when he tried to climb up the iron gate to the roof. It was kind of loud (at first we thought someone was shaking the gate) and he looked clumsy. He made it up there though, as we quietly giggled at him. And then we heard some noise coming from the roof and knew it was him. He came down the same way eventually. We witnessed (or heard, actually) that clumsy routine several times while we were there.
Sometimes he looked like he was in a Zen mode and didn't even flinch when we put our shoes right next to him. Other times, he was more aware of us and gave us "the look"...

One of my faves was a little bitty coqui frog that lived in the overflow drain of one of the bathroom sinks at Ambiance.

He scared the crap out of everybody at least once but then we got used to him. Wish I had a photo of him. He was pretty darn cute!

Gotta be the king of Cruz Views Sir Dickhead I need to get up there and see if he's around.

Although this trip we have a couple of dogs that stop and see us and the one is extremly friendly she's a cool dog,her name is Norey, loves to be rubbbed. I'm afraid to say she would become my new favorite if we stayed here all the time cause I'm a dog person .

There was a black cat that was among the resident kittehs at Tennis Villa back in '06. He was very vocal, but his vocabulary consisted of "aaah". So, we named him "aaah". Creative, no?

Jac and I started a tradition a few years ago -- instead of exchanging gifts for Valentines day, we make a donation to the Animal Care Center of St. John to help them with their feral cat feeding stations and spay/neuter programs.

These are great guys. I've enjoyed them. And...is it just me, or do all the cats on STJ look the same?

We've have many critters that we've fed over the years. They've all made our stays much more enjoyable since we always had pets at home that we've had to leave and miss while we're gone.

From the multitude of cats at Sago Cottage (LysaC-they'd be at the door crying in the a.m.!), to the land crabs at Concordia which were very amusing to watch-we were told it was environmentally good to feed them our scraps , to our last stay at Casa Blanca where we had a very social kitty visit us every day and hang by the pool. I too left a note in the guest book to feed him, though I'm sure other places were feeding him too.

I always ask the villa managers if it's ok to feed them first, some places get bothered if they have cats hanging around. I like to see the ones that have had their ears cropped so at least I know they've been fixed.

They've all added a special feeling to making our stays feel more like "home".

Didn't have to ask at Tennis Villa. They have a barrel of cat food, numerous bowls and this sign:

If I remember he (?) showed up the first day. A real sweety-but definitely needed his nails clipped because he was a kneader!
Nice that at places like Tennis Villa they put the sign up and supply stuff too.
Having these "visitors" makes St. John trips all that more special to us.

I took this picture last year at Shipwreck landing. We were eating and he was right next to me so I gave him some of my leftovers. Look at the poor thing, you think he's been in alot of fights.
