Hey Jayseadee,
Thanks for the compliment, but you are right we never knew each other was there. I rememeber Larry saying one night that maybe you's weren't up there since we never heard or saw you's until that one night.

We really want to do Honeymoon as well this time. The girl of the couple that we bringing with us loves to snorkel which will be nice for Larry as he doesn't like to leave me on the beach by myself ( such a sweetie)so he will have company.

You have mentioned to go to Caneel & walk to Honeymoon, How do you get there?? Where is the trail & how long would it take?? Last time we went to Caneel, we just hit the main beach.

Thanks

Hi Ruth,

I think the trail to Honeymoon is off toward the left of the main Caneel beach. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from where the taxi would drop you off in the parking lot. It's flat and a nice stroll (we were lucky and had one of the grounds keepers pick us up in their golf cart).

the other option is to park at the Lind trail (just beyond Estate Lindholm) and hike the trail down. this is not a difficult hike as long as it is not after a rain storm. It is also a 15 - 20 minute walk. The one time we did this, it was muddy and slick (and we were carrying chairs, cooler, etc); it tooks us 45 minutes to get down; but about 15 on the way back up.

We visit Trunk each visit, but this was the first time we snorkeled on the opposite side of the cay from the trail. It was very good snorkeling; a lot of fish and some healthy coral.

If you're looking for "just a day at the beach"; head out to Maho. I think that became our new favorite.

Happy planning,
janet

Thanks for sharing your trip report. Always like to read what others experience. I'll be back in April and will try some of the trails to different beaches this time. Sounds like it will be worth the walk...but then how is anything not worth a walk on beautiful STJ? I, too, am curious to hear more about Mixology.

Thanks for the directions Jayseadee, I copied them to put in my travel folder to take with us.

VAGirl, I posted a separate thread on Mixology, if you have ?? let me know.
They were great & we are planning on using them for our trip in April.

The walks were great,we are not big walkers at home, I think for us the anticipation of seeing the ocean was such a high that the walk didn't bother you & when you can hear the ocean, it justs puts a spring in your step...
