Were the lock boxes that were broken into actually locked? Did they cut the locks, or what?

Im not sure about the people that had the wallet taken...but the ladies that were on our left said the lock had been broken off the box...Im not sure what type lock it was...a good one or not..

Where is Americas Hill? Sounds like a great hike I'd love to try.
If you take the Cinnamon Bay trail up the hill( and its steep) go across the creek bed. and watch for the trail to turn to the left...there is no sign..seems there was a tie of some color marking it...there was a post that maybe had a marker at one time on it...the trail is in good shape once you find the turn and just keep going all the way up. I have more pics of the ruins other than whats posted if you would like to see them, just drop me a line and I'll have hubby send them out to you later on today...:)

I'll be staying in one of the cottages a week from tomorrow night with three girlfriends. It should be quite an experience, but I think we're a pretty easy going bunch. I was interested to hear how much you used the grills they provide. We're planning to rent our car on STT and take the car barge, so we might add charcoal and some grill-able items to our shopping list while we're still on STT.
Thanks for the report!

I've never cooked with charcoal, so I'm buying a little portable propane grill, when we get there. We can pass it along to you if you like.
Minde - Wow... that would be great. Thank you for the kind offer! FYI... unless something changes, we'll be in cottage 7. I'm pretty sure we'll be easy to spot.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us! My kids would lynch us if we took off to STJ without them LOL! I love the Deli Grotto too! It's one of my fave places to eat on the island. Their food is good, fresh, generous portions and VERY reasonable.

Yep, guess I was feeling the affects of always traveling with little ones. When your oldest is 30 and your youngest is still in elementary school...I guess there is no hope for us is there?? We can't travel without kids either. First off, nobody to take care of them...secondly, it would be harder on us to leave them behind and third...we wouldn't know how to act if we ever got out alone.... , but we'd sure have a good time trying to remember!

My oldest will be 28 in August and my youngest just turned 11 in April...I have a 12 yr and a 22 yr old...so yeah...its hard at times to get away but doable. I always feel guilty about going without them...but even my older son,28 says you shouldnt feel guilty and then Im like..ok..you keep them for me.. ...we have been taking a vacation with the kids...and one for us each yr...but dang..its getting expensive to do. Plus...my youngest..(11) gets bored here...and he had everything imagineable to do..Video games...TV...Internet...Bicycle..scooter...probably has too much..and i think...my word...he would get bored down there...with no electronics...lol Good thing...he enjoys camping..so maybe next yr we will bring them with us..and see how it goes..get a villa with a pool and try to take them during carnival. I hate to think about hearing the preverbial "I'm bored"
while we are there..after going to the expense and time to plan everything.. And one thing I forgot to add...while we were in STJ they were visiting family in the Mtns. with their dad...so not like I had totally forsaken them...they had a great time up there...for that...I didnt feel as guilty.. 8)
