We are here now and just brought down a cooler full of frozen meat. We checked our cooler with just the meat and one sheet of techni ice. We were inspected by TSI and they asked someone about the technice and they decided it was ok. They also checked the suitcasse with the food (wiped down anything that was liquid). I asked if they always checked out luggage with food and they said no, we were randomly selected. Everything was easy and we are getting ready to enjoy our nice t-bone on the grill!

We did much the same as everyone else. Steaks and ground beef, frozen, slab of bacon and sausages, frozen. The only place we differed was to substitute the frozen water with other frozen liquids that would benifit us with the loss of cooler space. We took 4 cans of frozen concentrated OJ, and placed them in the first bottle, and 3 dozen eggs...scrambled, and put them in another, froze the lot, and used them. After a 7 hour delay in Miami, for a total travel time of 18 hrs, all remained frozen!!
I had taped the cooler shut so that there would be no accidents, since the cooler was being checked, and TSA did open and inspect it. They also did a great job sealing it back up.
If you are going non-stop to STT, remember, thoes baggage compartments in the plane get COLD so all the extras might not be an issue. If, however, you have a layover, or transfer...make sure you take the extra steps!! you never know how long that delay will be!!!

Ahhh... a Physics test! Does water weigh the same frozen as it does liquid?
Thank goodness alcohol doesn't weigh as much as water! (Physics lesson #2)
