Cool. Were you on the platform on the left background in this Time Mag shot?

Man, it looks cold. Digital equipment must be more reliable in cold than film, but battery performance must be a concern, no?

Way too cool, Sandy! Thanks for sharing. Even though we live about a 1/2 hr. from DC, we didn't feel up for the hassle and bone chilling cold. We went to an inauguration party at some friends' place in Bethesda with big screen tv's and lots of food and drink. It was weird how light traffic was on the MD beltway.

Those are some amazing pictures. Thank you for sharing them with us! I was thinking of you as I watched the process of the Bushes leaving the Capitol, knowing you were right there. Too cool.

Sandy - I could see the photo stand from the steps of the Library of Congress (jealousy is not pretty). The money shots are on the West front, but the action is always on the East. The formality and ceremony of the new prez and past prez should not be missed. The Bush family leaving and the newly minted Obama and Biden heading off to the White House. Priceless.

jmq, yes I was to the left of that photo. I was there from 3: 00 AM to 4:00 pm. Why they needed us there that early is beyond me. We were not allowed to go to the bathroom after 10:00 am. To say we were very miserable that day is a understatement. I'm not sure I would do it again.

Thanks for sharing your photos. They are really great. It sounds like a really grueling day though. That's awful about the bathroom access!

Cool stuff! Now I know what all of those ant-size people near the Capitol were hollering about. I was two zip codes west!
