IMPORTANT!! Police to ticket rental vehicles on STJ and STT
I don't think anyone was trying to villify the rental companies here on this forum -- but it is important for visitors to know about this issue so as not to get caught in the middle and potentially be held responsible. It's certainly no fun being pulled over by the police anywhere.
I e-mailed STJ car rental and they told me that they are diligent about ensuring that their cars are properly licensed, inspected and registered.
If anything it sounds like the car companies are getting screwed and given the logistics that Eric describes a total nightmare to get accomplished.
As always, a little knowledge and discussion is better than none.

*Another fine scatterbrained production
I didn't take your diss on Hertz as a diss on island car rental places, since most of them are mom-and-pop operations. But now that you mention it, Hertz does have an outfit on STT and I think that Paris Car Rental (where we rented last time) is affiliated with Hertz.Gromit wrote:I take that back I was dissing on Hertz in Alabama.
But I have had nothing but great experiences with STJ car rental for over a decade.
However, I didn't see your original post and say "OMG, I'm never renting from Hertz again." But, I will be checking the paperwork for a car that I rent from wherever I rent it in the future. I think this was a very important article to share with us.
Grommit....I'm sorry, I wasn't singling you out. I was speaking in more general terms. I apologize if I "vilified" you in the process...lol. No harm was meant.
I agree that the information and discussion are always better than none. Again, in general, there are people who insist on clinging to the story they heard first instead of looking for both sides of the discussion. Every day it seems there are more and more narrow views (again, no one in particular).....maybe I'm developing a new pet peeve.....yikes!
