JMQ...I am not a fan of Stewart (sometimes he seems a little bitter to me)..But that has funny. Very funny.

Haven't watched yours yet, SJ. And it is very true that people on both sides are going to have their prior words haunt them.

For instance...I support President Obama, however, it is his Policies that I don't support.

Funny stuff

i liked the rabid fox folks better--but that was still pretty damned funny sj--
the one thing that I was really peeved about is the booing of GWB, I might not agree with the man, and under different circumstances might have booed him--but not there and not then--he deserved more respect as the outgoing president.

Now that is almost as funny as Jon Stewart. You've been remarkably silent about the myriad of references you made in the run up to the election of Obama = Hitler. I think your comments actually made Rush look timid. Further, your repeated use of the word Mulatto with no apology to reference our president and ruffle feathers even after an EXTENSIVE thread months ago attempted to illuminate for you why it may just be offensive to those of us who happen to have children of multi-ethinicities might just be why I am a bit less tolerant of you than say someone else, like SJfromNJ (who actually seems to think out what he says and have some information that didn't come from Fox or Drudge). Mongoloid was historically used to describe babies with downs syndrome. Does that make it appropriate to use now? Even if you find 3 people who say its fine?

Again PLEASE find some biracial people and ask them what they think of it and report back? IF it is REALLY so inoffensive then you shouldn't even hesitate right?

There is a HUGE difference between someone of black and white ancestry who chooses to self-identify as mullato and YOU using it to label anyone, president or otherwise. I digress and I know I am wasting my time trying to provide some insight from someone who actually knows a little about how biracial people might feel. Perhaps I am fierce mama bear, but personally use it in my face and I really don't know that I'd be responsible for my actions. Of course, my daughter, infinitely more unflappable than me, would just roll her eyes and walk away. Like I posted before, she is blissfully unaware that the fact that her dad and her mom look different matters in any way. I consider us so fortunate to live in an area of the country of incredible diversity.

I made one post here that I truly regret and it was related to Sarah Palin. I still think she was completely unqualified for VP, as did/do many prominent republicans however I was out of line and I said so when I said she didn't have two brain cells to rub together. She may be a fine Gov of Alaska. But running Alaska is very different than running the country. I do agree that she is NOT done and I also agree that this is a great thing.

But yet you still ask me about what Clinton did or didn't do right. My honest answer is I do not know. 911 didn't happen on his watch. Every president in recent history has faced the problem of Americans being targeted overseas. 911 was an entirely different experience. The lead up and training surely were on Clinton's watch but I don't buy that it should all rest on his shoulders. Just as I don't think it can all rest on Bushs (even though he did have intelligence stating that terrorists were determined to strike within the US and was evidentally unable to head it off either). Still, the responsibility for that attack rests firmly with the dozen nutjobs who plotted and carried it out. And by the way, there are STILL terrorist training camps out there.

You completely lost me on the Gergen comment. Yes he served 4 administrations, both R & D but mainly R. He is one of the most straightforward unflabbable commentators I've seen on television. He always has something insightful to say but he's definitely not a blowhard. He is a man of few words and it makes the ones he speaks resonate even more. If you read his book you'll see he truly respects all 4 presidents he served, though he clearly illuminates the shortcomings of each. He actually states that Reagan was the best leader of the four. Remarkably, I still am reading the book...Like I said I can't wait to get to Clinton.

1000% agree the booing was EXCESSIVELY poor form. At least no one shouted out that he was a terrorist.

Well, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. Hasn't David Gergen himself been a part of three or four administrations (yes I know, both D and R)?
Ok, I reread and NOW I see what you are saying. No Gergen wasn't commenting on whether retreads are good or bad and neither am I. It is simply when you read the book you realize how many names you recognize across the administrations. He actually really liked Cheney as Ford's Chief of Staff. Cheney also served as Sec. of Defense for Bush 1.

My point is that Obama's tapping of Clinton-era appointees is far from unusual.

(even though he did have intelligence stating that terrorists were determined to strike within the US and was evidentally unable to head it off either).
Do you think this is the only time there has been intelligence about possible attacks? Do you believe there were many times the Bush administration prevented attacks before and after 9-11?

There is still an enemy out there who wants to attack America. The homeland is still threatened.

President Bush had the moral and political courage to make tough decisions that were not popular but needed to be taken. And when Americans are safe and protected, they forget. They take for granted the freedoms that President Bush so fiercly tried to protect them from.

Again, my comments associating Obama/Hitler were supposed to be taken metaphorically, not literally as you like to take EVERYTHING.

We all know Flip that Obama is not going to start another Holocaust (God, again I can't believe I have to spell that out for you).

However, I'm sorry if the unquestioned adulation and love this man received before he had even defeated Hillary Clinton skeeved me out a bit. I mean, school teachers leading their classrooms in song in reverence to Barack Obama...Yes, that MORE than creeped me out. It goes against everything this country was founded on (Jeffersonian Principles)...Our leaders are to be respected, not feared or revered (in Obama's case revered)...The people are to be revered. You hate this term, but it is why some call him the "Messiah".

If you are not an Obama supporter, the blind loyalty to a man we know NOTHING about is pretty, well, creepy.

That was what I was talking about.

And if you need to go back to the train...Same thing. A metaphor...People being blindly led and in return giving their blind loyalty. I mean, unless you all had more information about this guy than the rest of us did?

I will remind you that is was none other than Tom Brokaw, moderator of debate #2 (I believe it was 2, maybe 3), said to Charley Rose the week before the election:

"We really don't know anything about his (Obama) world view."

Thanks Tom, you might've asked a couple of those questions during your debate for us!!!!!

Maybe I just didn't get the memo.
Do I need to go back and find where I had apologized? Your sensitivity and political correctness is too much for me sometimes.

My wife is Italian. People call her a Guinea all the time. Not exactly a term of endearment.

Chris Rock makes his living with the term "cracker". Doesn't bother me.

Again, sorry if my words have insulted you. My promise to you is that I will never again use that word on this forum.

However, you are a bit of a hypocrit. You term yourself a feminist, yet you spent the better part of the fall denigrating the intelligence of a woman who had an opportunity to ascend to the 2nd highest office in the land...why? Because she is not "Pro-Abortion". You are only a part of the feminine crowd if your ideals align with the woman in question. If they do not, then to hell with her.
Perhaps I am fierce mama bear, but personally use it in my face and I really don't know that I'd be responsible for my actions.

Exactly the reason I have never posted pictures of my family here. Based on some comments like "Douchebag", "racist", "Asshole", etc, I'm not sure what the reactions of some of you might be were you ever to run into me sipping a painkiller at the BB.
But running Alaska is very different than running the country. I do agree that she is NOT done and I also agree that this is a great thing.
Well, it is great to hear you say that.
But yet you still ask me about what Clinton did or didn't do right. My honest answer is I do not know.

Ok, fair enough. Just to further illuminate my point (to beat a dead horse), it seems to be the belief of the "Left" that diplomacy is the only (or at least the primary) tool to ensure our security. Clinton tried that. It failed.

Winston Churchill said, "The appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile, hoping it chooses to eat him last"

Linne,

Could you please PM Anthony and ask him to lock this thread? That seems to work and may be our only hope.

Godspeed, Linne. We're counting on you.
