Everybody sing along --

A six string, ten shots
Of Cruzan rum, hey, I like it a lot
With my, my, my - my key lime pie

Image

(yes, that is a store bought crust)

Add some whipped cream and enjoy

my, my, my, - my key lime pie!

I don't have any pics but if you marinate portabello mushrooms in the marinade on the CBGR bag and then grill them, you will be so happy you listened to me! :D

Chicken Tikka Masala - sounds like a Jimmy Buffett song

Speaking of JB, I went with aroobagirl's Roast Beef and Boursin sandwiches for our JB tailgate. (See X's Outdoor Picnic thread)

Since it was a rainy tailgate, I was glad to have brought pre-made. These were really good and will be on the lunch menu next time we have company.

Unlike Charlie, Don won't grill in the rain or even if it looks like rain. So, instead of hamburgers and pasta salad for dinner, it was good ole Spaghetti and Meatballs.

Image

And for dessert (both nights), we had these Carrot Cake Whoopie pie thingy's from Trader Joe's. If you like carrot cake, you will love these thingy's.

Those beef and Boursin sandwiches look fabulous. I am going to have to try that combination. The rolls look yummy too.

I may try that on a sliced baguette with a cuke slice on top as an appetizer :D .

Aroobagirl said sourdough bread, but I could only find sourdough rolls. I think a crispy baguette would also be very good.

The roast beef and Boursin sandwiches were a hige hit, I just put them on baguette.
I also made the roasted shrimp and orzo salad from Barefoot Contessa, and it was the hit of the night. (except for the encore with Garrison, Arlo Guthrie, Steve Martin on Banjo, and Martin Sheen)

I even had someone sitting near us ask what we were eating. I offered a taste and the woman was wild about it. I had to jot down the recipe for her on a paper plate!

I made the Barefoot Contessa chicken picatta last night. It was good, though I missed the capers I usually put in.

Flip, he married in to a family of women so there are strange women on his doorstep all the time :) And now he's related to them!

Now Janet...this thread is food "porn" and your quoting Chesney's Key Lime Pie song...cracked me up. Listen to the song again and think the porn part of food porn and you'll get that Kenny wasn't singing about your beautiful pie you made. Just a little trivia from Kenny's backstage people. Hope I don't offend anyone here. I get a smile everytime I hear that song.

This was about to drop to page two! We can't have that.

What's everyone been cooking? We got in the first decent tomatoes this week. Here is the unhealthy way to eat them... in a BLT with avocado and egg:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/3723634936/" title="avocado belt by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3528/372 ... f7dbb7.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="avocado belt"></a>

And the healthy way, in a caprese salad with grilled lemon chicken:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/3725788773/" title="chicken and tomato salad by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3515/372 ... 160071.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="chicken and tomato salad"></a>

The roasted shrimp and orzo salad we talked about on the picnic thread was a HUGE hit. I would definitely make it again:

BLT with Avocado (garden fresh tomatoes & lettuce, real bacon, squishy ripe avocado)... food worth losing a limb over.

I have bacon and tomatoes in my fridge, and I just figured out what I'm doing with them. Yummy!
