So many of the people on this forum seem obsessed with booze
Homemade rum? How does he do that? That might be cool to try (in a scientific, non-obsessive way, of courseobsessedmuch wrote:Ummm, a coworker of mine gave me some homemade rum he's been working on for weeks (months, maybe) before I left today.
Did I happen to say I believe in coincidences?

Dear Mia
I am sorry you thought I was being mean spirited towards Melanie, but what Melanie said in her post was offensive to me and I felt I had the right to respond, this is what she said first
Melanie... "I certainly don't want to come off judgmental or offend anyone, but I find it pretty sad. I find so much of the talk here to be very similar to college kids' talk regarding drinking."
She finds our chat to be sad, because we talk about having a Virgin Pale Ale or Painkiller! She find's us to be like College kids, meaning irresponsible young adults who have just discovered freedom from authority and over-indulge. She signed up on this forum 2 days ago and somehow think's it is appropriate to offend on her first post!
She then said in her 3rd post, " I will continue to pose controversial questions and observations from time to time, so that all of you can get fired up... you seem to relish it."
That is when I finally posted my comment, Melanie obviously delights in causing controversy. I do not think people come here for mean spirited judgmental observations. Look up Lucy's and Tortola's posts, they are few and radical or sarcastic. A normal person just does not start a relationship or conversation with caustic comments.
When Melanie starts contributing to this forum in a constructive manner, I will again read her posts, till then she goes into the ignore column with Tortola and Lucy.
This forum has been extremely supportive of all people from all walks of life and I would hate to see that change.

Okay, while we're venting...you folks who hike...and worse yet, run...well, you really pi$$ me off! I mean, can't you keep all that healthy cr@p to yourselves?!
You really rankle the cigarette smoking, heavy drinking rest of us. I'm not being judgmental, but you healthy people really suck.
There...I said it. And, you know what...I feel good!

I, too, could be considered a "lurker". Having never been to the VI, I don't feel I have anything to contribute YET! (going 1st time 6/3). However, the few questions that I have asked have always been answered promptly and politely. I truly enjoy reading all of your posts and take what I can use from them. That said...
Thanks to you all I'm in hock to JCrew for about $80 in flipflops, Went off my diet because of the food porn, screwed up my face (I look like a zebra) with self-tanning towelettes and absolutely have the shakes because I can't wait for my first Painkiller.
You guys are a lot of fun!

I feel sorry for you gal. I have been reading this inter-active board for several years. I have never had the feeling that it was alcohol or any other mood-altering substance based. The "I'lons" alter your mood dear. Either you get that. Or you don't. I feel sorry that all you picked up on by the helpful tips on this forum was the "consumption" of one man-made substance or another. What gets us all OFF on the USVI/BVI is the majesty that God created in this one particular part of the world. We have the good grace and liberty to see it when we visit and hopefully leave it a better place than when we arrived. Hope it's glory alone hits you some day without equateing it to some substance...peace and love.

I'm crying here. I almost quit reading because I finished my second coffee and have to leave soon. Now, I'm sticking it out until the end.
Thanks, dartchic!
