cypressgirl,

I live in Skidmore. It's a big metropolis between Papalote and Claireville. Really...it's a very small community 50 miles northwest of Corpus Christi and about 100 miles southeast of San Antonio on USHiway 181. It's known by UT students as the last beer stop before Padre Island.

I've been as Astros fan since they were the Colt 45's. I sat in that mosquito infested stadium watching Willie Mays play centerfield when the Giants came to Houston. I took my sons to the Astrodome and sat out in the bleachers to try and catch batting practice home runs. We even heckled Barry Bonds...he gave us a dirty look...priceless.

My son lives in Austin and went to UT. I'll ask him if he's heard of Skidmore.

I remember sitting in those Colt 45 bleachers as well. I was a little girl, but man was it hot in the summer. Now with Minutemaid Park, I'm thinking why not just keep Houston baseball in the air conditioning. Who needs a roof that opens?

I wish I was going to opening night this evening, but I guess we can watch it on tv.

My forum name means that I am so old, we have grandchildren and they call me "Pappa Jim". "Pappa" is more appealing to me than "gramps", "gagga" or "grampa", and they differentiate between grandfathers by adding our first name or nickname after "Pappa". Of course, Sue isn't Mamma, Meme, Mimi or anything common. You'll have to ask her what they came up with for her.

My forum name basically means that i have absolutely no creativity  . First name, last initials.

In retrospect, I should have used one of my nicknames. An old friend tagged me as Buff (anyone with Air Force background will get that one. It's a nickname for the C130 transport Plane and stands for Big Ugly Fat F***er) or in Jamaica 24 years ago I was dubbed Heavy Mon.

Oh well... :)

I sometimes say "Hola, Chica" to people. Chica turned into Chickadee, and that's my screen name.

Mine comes from peeing the bed at a late age...oh, sorry, wrong forum.

It comes from being a cross dresser and taking pictures of guys with mascara, eye shadow, blue teddys and really big guns...damn...that's another one too.

No really, I got it from my ex-wife...oh no, it's not derogatory enough...

Seriously, it was from being locked in a closet for all those years with nothing but a Playskool medical kit and magnifying glass.

I thought I'd bump this thread up to the top because I want to know what some of the newbies forum names mean. There are a lot of new regulars since April!
