Gustav
Just want to say that I am thinking of all of you, who are living in the American Gulf Coast.
I really hope that the hurricane will do fewer damages than feared. So sad that a hurricane shall hit the same people again.

Cat, we have just heard about Ike to night, and both hubby and I were so sorry to find out that
our relief about Gustav not doing so much trouble as feared now have be to be followed of a pray for that Ike will change, as Gustav did. It must be terrible for people not to know what will happen. If their home will be damaged or not. How do they manage? We heard that it was really bad in Turks & Caico, which are places I have heard about in this forum.
Best wishes

I was talking to my husband last night about Turks and Caicos being slammed again! They have had a terrible season!!!!
That is another place I really want to get to. The water is beautiful there too they just don't seem to have the reefs so close to shore. I could be wrong though. We are just starting to look in to going there.

Linne - I can tell you one thing about the not knowing part, Katrina prepared us that when we leave, we have to let it go as far as "stuff" is concerned.
When we left for Gustav (thinking it was going to be "The mother of all storms" as the honarable mayor C. Ray Nagin so eloquently put it), I expected not to have anything to come home to so I packed my photo albums, the body of my computer, a bit more clothes than last time, and necessities for my dog and cat in my car and left.
It's funny but this time, when we left, the fear of what would happen wasn't as bad as just not wanting to be there if it did happen. The worst part of it was wanting to get back home as the city you leave behind (no matter where it is) IS your true home.

nothintolose, I have never experienced a natural disaster, as you have, but have sometimes been thinking of what I would do, if it should happen. If I would panic and try to save some stuff, or just would try to save my life. I think people are reacting in different ways, and it seems, as if you react in a sensible way. I really understand that you want to go back to YOUR HOME in YOUR CITY, but if it continue with all these hurricanes, it must be difficult still to be brave.
I have seen that Ike now should have been calmer. I really hope that it will be like Gustav and not be “The mother of all storms".
