Even Sean P Diddy Combs feels our airline pain!!

Post by Gromit »

I'm counting this as a forum worthy topic because we are all struggling with the pain of airline schedules and getting to the islands. Of course-- not EXACTLY in the same way P Diddy is but I have to say this CRACKED me up!!

Ya, I feel the pain. I didn't renew my NetJets GV subscription. Too bad, I'll miss that ride http://www.netjets.com/NetJets_Fleet/Ne ... fstream550

Sweeeeeeeeet! Back in the day I used to work for a hot shot who had access to some nice stuff. Once a bunch of us got stranded at O'Hare before a big meeting. He sent a Gulfstream ("the Gully") to come pick us up (had to go to Midway airport for the flight.) It was so cool to have a limo drop off us on the tarmac at the plane, and then another one pick us up at the plane when we got to New Orleans.

I know some people must travel like that all the time. Sadly, I'm not one of them. I've never been able to repeat that experience. It was wasted on a business trip -- I'd love to take a jet like that with my family on vacation!

Makes you wonder though in these times. If enough forum folks got together and were flying on the same days if you could make a charter flight worthwhile?

Well, the GV seats 18 and is about $250K round trip for an over-water flight. The limo that does pick up and drop off is extra and so is the helicopter to the Westin helipad.

So $13K per ticket? That's it ;-) (KIDDING) That's a bit out of my price range but if you're buying.... ;-)

My boss has a flexjet share that he let lapse just recently. Has had it ever since I worked here (6 years) and times are tough....him and the family now have to fly commercial (GASP!)

We had a trip to a convention in Vegas a couple years ago and there was 8 of us. He decided to not take the jet out there for some reason and we all flew 1st class. Well, a day beore we were schedule to leave he decided to go home. So he called up flexjet and within a couple hours the gulf was there waiting for him. He left each of us to either stay the additional night, on him, or fly home with him on the gulfstream. That was a tough choice, but 4 of us stayed in Vegas and had a great time on his dollar. Probably my only chance to fly private (for at least a while until he renews) but it was worth it to stay.

I do have to laugh at them now that they have to fly commercial. They piss and moan everytime they get back. Welcome to the wonderful world of the traveling public!!
