7/11 Trip Report - Day 2

Post by greyhoundmom »

Up at 5:45 to brew coffee. GHM, the early riser, had some "me" time on the upstairs deck with fresh coffee and watching the sunrise while all others snored away! Everyone else alive at 6:30, made chicken salad with eggs, pickle relish for lunch. Took sun dried tomato tortilla wraps, Pringles, beverages, almonds for day at Francis. Arrived at 8:15 for a glorious 4 hrs. No one else around, so we snorkeled to our little hearts' content. Finally, company...a family with 6 kids under 8 yrs old camped next to us and were constantly screaming, "I'm a mermaid, eel, turtle, Arial, blah, blah, blah. Don't get me wrong, I have 2 grands, ages 16 and 10, but Lord, have mercy, this was big people time and we were so done! Back to Orion's to shower and into Cruz Bay to St. John Spice for Jamaican Blue Mountain and Voodoo coffees (thanks, Rick!). Ruth wasn't in, so we'll come back. Ordered silver hook bracelet for baby boy (21 and 6'3" but he's still my baby!) at Versache. This will be a Christmas gift - he bought one last summer while working at Maho, came home and wore it for 3 months and someone stole it. He was so upset, so think he'll be surprised at Christmas. On to Star Fish for groceries. Can I say the rudest cashier ever?? No hi, how are you, kiss my butt, just "take your items from the basket, place them on the counter and put your basket at the front of the counter". I know we're tourists but when you spend enough to make a car payment, where's the love??? Back to Orion's to offload cold stuff and on to Shipwreck's for an awesome meal: Shrimp pasta, fresh tuna with pineapple, jerked Mahi, fresh Wahoo with guacamoli...amazing meal and service...thanks, Patty!
Back to Orion's for Lime and Coconut in blender, heavy on the Cruzan. Sunset on Widow's Walk, crazy boys (you'd think they were on vacation!). No tan lines pool time until Capt. Dan thought it'd be cute to turn on multi-colored pool lights. He soon realized the error of his ways! In bed by 9:30, amazing how sun, sand, snorkeling completely drains you (don't think the alcohol plays into that??). Tomorrow, Trunk!
