STT-Trip Report Day 4 and beyond
Days 4 and beyond:
Sorry it's taken me so long to finish, but the place that I get my paycheck from has been demanding some of my time lately. . . Go figure.
Off to Waterlemon the next day on the car ferry. IMHO it is best to take the car ferry if you are going to Waterlemon. I've found it hard to get a taxi to agree to pick you up at a certain time and have found myself stuffed into a regular jeep wrangler with 5 other people in it with all of our gear (it was a pretty funny sight to see but not a comfortable ride) But hey, beggars can't be choosers as the saying goes.
Anyways, I digress, wander, stray and ramble. Hubby and I, my friend, the nanny and the 4-year-old begin our hike. Not too many "Are we almost there" has been heard and we arrive. We hear "there's a turtle, there's a turtle." So, of course, all of us, go quietly into the water to see the turtle. 4-year-olds are not quiet and it is quite exciting for her. Such a joy to see that much excitement. She has not got the snorkeling thing down yet (despite trying), but hey she's got many years to practice since her mom has fallen in love with the VI as much as me.
Hubby stays with the little one (he doesn't snorkel either) and we are off to the Cay. We decide to snorkel the whole way instead of hiking and getting in at the tip there where it's close. It's pretty cloudy, Bertha has stirred up the water, I think, despite her being hundreds of miles off in the Atlantic. Great snorkeling around the left side of the cay but not around it because of the seas). I didn't have a camera with me (remember my friend got the nifty one) so I have no pics of this day . . . Or the turtles. . . I need one of those cameras. We didn't see any of the starfish that everyone talks about or any rays but maybe next time. We arrive back and hubby has successfully taught the little one to snorkel. She is now showing off her skills and ability (and later in the week with mom and nanny does trunk bay, the baths, the caves and various other places with her t-shirt proclaiming she is a one-horned butt fish). IMHO - Waterlemon is a must do. I do this snorkel every time and am never disappointed.
A stop at Margarita Phil's for a drink or two and then back on the car ferry as hubby and I had dinner plans that night at Latitude 18.
Latitude 18: We pick up the "old tart" and she is fully clothed, long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes (I'm in a barely there sundress as I was so excited about the turtles that I went in the water, snorkeled half the day and didn't put sunscreen on). Hmmm. . . Okay, last time I was there, I did get bit a few times but I have bug spray in my purse at all times, how bad can the bugs be? Bugs were nonexistent! Another side effect from Bertha (I think) as the breezes were blowing. It was open mic nite and expected to hear some really good music. Did hear some good music but then . . . Okay, need to be polite here, don't want to offend but the woman with the ukulele (or a very small guitar) was AWFUL. Food was great, service was good, no complaints except for the screeching woman with the very little bitty guitar. . . What was better, was the company. We enjoy catching up on the happenings and some gossip with our good friend.
Next day is not much to write about - went to Home Depot, bought a machete, cut a path down through our property so we could explore, met our neighbors (which by the way are wonderful). They invited us to dinner later in the week.
However, we did go to lunch in town between home depot and beating back the vines on the overgrown property. My only wish this time was to go to Cuzzin's Caribbean Restaurant (I have simple wishes and food is generally included in those wishes). It was crowded but we got there before the real wait started. I ordered Conch in Butter Sauce and hubby had Conch Salad. Not a drop left on my plate or his, it was so so so good. Oh, and hubby says he wants to treat me after lunch and steers me to Cardow Jewelers. I don't want to go there, I tell him, I want that underwater camera. So, he gladly buys me the camera (he has a look of relief on his face). Olympus Stylus 1030 SW - shock and waterproof to 33 feet. Boolchand's gives me a 2gb memory card for free and a case and I buy the floating strap so no accidents on my part happen (my last underwater went down off the boat into about 50 feet of water)

Thursday is our trip to Neltjeberg Bay. Here's a pic as a teaser:
