Trip Report STT - Day 3-4
Trip Report STT - Day 3-4
Sunday we went to Magens Bay beach. Truthfully, we had not done this beach together ever (what??? One of the top 10 beaches and never been?).

Well, I had gone many times 20+ years ago and had never been interested to go again because I had always scheduled every day with so many activities, I thought laying on the beach was just not enough activity for me or any newbies that I had brought over the years.
We get there, the girl in 'de boot' asks if we are visitors. I say yes. I guess I could have said local because of the property but I don't live there. So, $10.00 to get in. No big deal, they have bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, trash cans, a bar, a snack bar, rental chairs and lounges along with floats are available to rent along with a great little store to buy T-shirts, bathing suits, cover-ups, and souvenirs.
Let me just say, it was one of the most relaxing days I have had. We brought our own floats (the ones that you blow up around the edges and then they are supposed to magically fold up into a circle and go back into the package when you are done). The floats provided us with several hours of relaxing in the water.
We went and ordered pizza at the Snack Bar when hungry (a whole pizza for 2 of us); sat at the bar, talked to others. Met Brian the chef at Bella Blu and a few other people. Hmmm, menu at Bella Blu sounds yummy, we will have to make it to Bella Blu.
After having the most relaxing day, we head back to the Condo to clean up and put our leftover pizza in the fridge. Our friend arrives today with her 4-year-old and a nanny in tow. They are staying at the Wyndham. We run over there, pick them up and they want to eat somewhere quick and close as they are exhausted. We head to the Caribbean Saloon to fill them up for the night. Made plans to go back to Magens tomorrow. That relaxing is kinda addictive.
On Monday, back to Magens and another relaxing day (it is very addicting) and then a quick run into town late in the afternoon with my friend so she can purchase a camera she's had her eye on. The Olympus that is shock and water proof. We go to Havensight because of all of the traffic and it's about the time the store closes. She gets the camera, with a free memory card and a case from Boolchands (sp?). We stopped at the old Sopchoppy's (Island Time Pub?) for a pizza for dinner. It was very good. Pizza and hamburgers, I really need to get out of that rut.
We make plans for all of us to go to Waterlemon tomorrow on St. John - me making it clear we need to take an early car ferry but not so early as we take up space needed for the workers that have to go over every day.

No, no snorkeling at Magens Bay. I guess you could if you did the rocks on the left or on the right. I used to snorkel at the very tip (on the right). There used to be a place that you would climb down a rope and then jump off into the water and then snorkel all around and thru some rocks but with all the development out there, I can't find it anymore. . . I did try to find it but no luck.
Magens is just for chillin' and having a drink at the bar and hanging out. It's a family beach with lots of children and locals. No surf, no worries. Great place to relax.
The shop there has some good t-shirts, cover-ups and general beach stuff and more importantly the bartenders make great drinks!
