Thanksgiving in St John!!!

Post by onthelake »

Hi all!!!

Just booked for the week of Thanksgiving 11/23-12/3. Tried to hold out for better airfare, but in the end just used some ff miles and bought one ticket (twice as much as last year - YUCK). This will be our first time down on the holiday. Anyone have any advice for spending 'turkey day' on St John?

It feel so good to have a trip booked. I'll just have to figure out how to set my ticker again.

After spending many vacations in May on STJ we did a Thanksgiving trip last year and LOVED IT! It was fairly quiet and there was a fun, warm vibe on the island as you could tell things were getting ready for the busy season.

The beaches were not at all crowded until Thanksgiving day. We left the day after so I can't say anything about that, but the week prior was lovely.

We did the Thanksgiving at the Banana Deck (and bumped in to STJ Ruth) because of the variety - I got the traditional spread while some decided on more islandy fare. Delish!

Enjoy & I am a little jealous. I am trying out the island in hurricane season (August) and then again in July of 2009. I am planning on eventually having been on STJ each month of the year so I can better inform others ;) Only slightly joking.

Hi Pam!
Glad to hear you are going back home  . We will be there Nov 28th-Dec 6th. Maybe we can meet you and John at The BB Sunday, Nov 30th? Do you know where you are staying yet? Hope to see you then :D .

Hey Brenda,
We'll be there on the 30th!

We're staying at Cruz Views again and I reserved a Vitara from Courtesy. So I guess we are all set.

Can't wait to be HOME. :) We a thinking of going over BVI this year. Are you going over? Do you snorkel, swim or just get lunch/drinks etc? We are also thinking about renting a kayak.

As you can see, now that the basic plans are set... I'm starting to really PLAN. Hope to see you in November.

Pam,
We have always done a day trip to The BVI's. Either the ferry to Jost Van Dyke or a boat trip. We really just eat, drink, and lime. No signifigant snorkeling.

I thought they were phasing out those Vitaras. We tried to get one last time but couldn't.

Brenda,
We like the vitara. We had a jeep once and then switched back last year to the vitara. I had to call around and Courtesy is one of the only companies that still has them. We like them because they handle great and seem bigger inside than the small jeep.

Have a great day
