Denis Bay

Post by cosmolady »

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
I have been fascinated by the recent talk of Denis Bay. From what I am reading, it seems you park at Peace Hill and hike down? Is that correct?
Since we have never been to Denis Bay, any words of wisdom?
As always, thank you!

Happy Fourth Margarita Mary! Yup, one of the formulites told us about Denis Bay at a recent Beach Bar gathering. I'll have a picture of it coming in a future installment of my trip report. But, yes you park in the Peace Hill parking lot. Trail to Peace Hill is fairly gentle and has a very nice view at the top. However, as you start up the hill from the parking lot within a fairly short distance (50 yards or so) you'll see an unmarked trail heading down on the right side. It is actually a fairly steep trail and longer than I had originally anticipated, but comes out on a very pretty small sandy beach. Its not a highly visited beach, probably because of the hike. That's where we saw our shark. You'll have to wait for the trip report for pictures and more details!

Yep, I also agree with Mark's comments and logistics. I thought it was a very easy hike/walk...I carried a fairly heavy cooler...no problem.

I posted a couple above and below water pics in my recent TR...

Enjoy!!

Sherban, I think you were my first inspiration to check out Denis Bay. Then I kept reading and reading. Sounds great!

I loved it...I thinkj it was just one of those "happy days" for me where you love what-ever you do that day...

The beach isn't big or wide but it is beautiful IMO, there are no facilities and there is a private residence down the beach near the best swimming area. The beach is public so don't let the signs worry you...just don't go behind the treeline over near the house. I loved this place, awesome view, nice and private (the day we were there), very good snorkeling, nice spot under the trees (away from the house) to relax...

I've been back. I just took today off because...well I was/am still toasted from one heck of a party weekend. I'll post some pics and maybe a video or two.
