When do you know that "you get it"?
Two things:
We started planning our return trip on the third day of our first trip. I knew I was in trouble then.
Secondly, a co-worker said to me, "With this economy, why don't you go to Destin or even to visit your brother in Miami? You'd still have a beach and save so much money." I thought about it for a few minutes, but just couldn't wrap my head around that. It was if it was the strangest concept in the world.
It's not about getting to the beach anymore. It's about seven days being on a little tiny island pretty much away from the world. My cell phone service is spotty; I don't take a computer; I don't watch the news. The most pressing decision I make is whether to go to Morgan's Mango, The Beach Bar or Woody's for happy hour and what kind of cheese I want on my burger at Skinny's.
Life is good.
