Part 2 BACKGROUND-
This trip was partially our tenth anniversarry trip, I say partially because we used the tenth anniversarry excuse to justify our spending $$$ but we would have gone anyway....we're planning an island a year until we get bored of the Caribbean...I doubt that soon come...

We invited some friends along on this trip that we hadn't seen in 5 years (risky proposition)we were freinds with these people back when we lived in Virginia and the reunion" just sort of happened over email and before you know it we have plans to spend a week together (sans kids) at Cinnamon Tarn villa in STJ. They made it over on the 3PM ferry and we made it on the 5PM ferry so I the Villa folks had met them and showed them how to find the villa, etc. Well it was pretty easy for us with a little guidance over the phone, basically got off the barge, went up the hill to centerline road, followed it to the first big "Virgin Islands National Park" sign and took a left onto John Head Road, no problems. Then we all met up at the villa, hugged and talked about how long it had been and look at all the gray hair, etc., etc...Brought our luggage in and popped some beers open and let the good times roll out on the balcony overlooking cinnamon bay. We caught up on work, marriages, kids (our two oldest kids used to go to Montesourri school together a long time ago)...so we had a good old time chewing the fat and talking the talk

...I even think a couple of us made it into the hot tub that night.

The view spreads out from JVD across Mary Point over to Tortolla... magnificent... and liberating for me. The twinkling lights of the BVIs and the boats has a relaxing effect that washes away residual stress and worries. We called it a night before midnight and fell asleep with a medicinal breeze washing across our bed...Then at 5:15 became awakened by an unbelievably loud crescendo of frogs and stuff that was waking up with the sunrise...holy sh*t guys we're trying to sleep here! We got a little more sleep after this but not much (uh-oh...wifey likes her sleep...).
The next morning I was brousing the guest book comments and read where one of the guests said that he and his 5 year old kid did a hike every morning, down Johns Head Road, up Cinnamon Bay Trail, back to the villa...well, heck yeah, let's do it! So, all five of us venture out on our group hiking adventure to start the day. Johns Head Road isn't as bad as some folks say. It is a little steep at times, has a few tricky switchbacks and also has alot of unpaved areas where there is loose gravel with potholes. But really- no big deal for a jeep or a bunch of 40-something super heroes like us. So, we all walked down to Cinnamon Bay beach...Wow, that is a great beach!

We walked on a beach a bit, took a couple photos and headed up the Cinnamon Bay trail to centerline road...here's a shot from the trail...

The hike was invigorating and a great way to start the day...we worked up a pretty good sweat too!
Then off to skinny legs for lunch. Skinnys was fine...not sure I agree that these burgers are so great but what-ever...service was good food was good beers were cold...$80 for 5 of us.

That's all for now...TR part three soon come...
Cheers-
Sherb

Waterguy- Yeah, I'd say the natural beauty was all it's cracked up to be. The views and snorkeling are world class...as you know... :D

More installments to come...with final wrap up.

Great pictures-loved the views on your previous post too! Like the "10th anniversary" excuse too-we do that also. Makes it more "justifiable"
Looking forward to more installments!

"An island a year..." Oh my. Doesn't that sound awesome? I'd love to keep up with you somehow, find out how your destinations compare.

Eager to see whether this reunion of friends holds up as a good idea. Seems there's foreshadowing of problems...
