Last Minute Trip

Post by di »

I am a former long time lurker - over 6 years, who once in a while asks a question, yet I read the forum every day. I am trying to participate more frequently. I have asked several questions recently and appreciate all the answers and information.

I am an uber planner, and love the anticpation and planning of every detail. Thanks to a random look on ebay, I leave for a trip to St. John two weeks from today! I just booked the trip and flights Tuesday - this is SO out of character for me. We will only get to be there one week, but I plan to enjoy every moment to the fullest. This will be a little different than my past trips to St. John. Usually I try to see how much sun I can get, but this time, I will be looking for the shade and wearing a much higher factor of sunscreen than ever before. Last fall I had skin cancer and I really was a wake up call for me. When I was first diagnosed, one of the first things to cross my mind was that I could never go to St. John again. Reality and sanity set in and I realize that I can be outside, I just have to take precautions and be smart about my timing and surroundings. I just wanted to thank my forum family for all the advice, trip reports, and pictures that keep me going in between my trips to our beloved island.

UV Clothing

Post by ms411 »

On yesterday's (Saturday, June 21) CBS Early Show, they had a special travel segment that featured new products. One of the products was clothing with UV protection built-in so you don't have to keep applying sunscreen. Now of course I don't remember the name of the company, but there is a link on the CBS News website for the Early Show, and you should be able to find more info on the clothing. I know they had hats/caps, shirts, pants, and maybe other items.

Hi di, I have ebay auto alert for all Westin condo rentals and can't tell you how hard it is to pass up so many great deals, especially since I'm fine with putting things together last minute and can accept not planning out everything in detail. Good for you! I think you'll find plenty to do that doesn't involve sitting in the sun and will have a great time regardless. Have a great trip!!! Ali~
