My Trip report (really) Part II

Post by Xislandgirl »

We are up early. This will become the norm as I believe that there is an aviary on the property of Ilios.I am not a bird person, so this becomes a big joke for Chip during the week. The other reason is that the mattress in the master bedroom is terrible. We work on that later in the trip and the meaning behind my signature line will be revealed.

We had stopped at Starfish and Pine Peace after we arrived yesterday and we replaced out terrorist egg produce so we made ourselves a million dollar breakfast. Why do I call it a million dollar breakfast? Because we bought english muffins at Starfish and they cost close to that!
As we are eating our breakfast, the open air kitchen invites in a Thrush (did I mention I hate birds) to help himself to some sausage. This would also become the norm for the trip and we would end up just throwing food out the window for them.

We make a stop at Deli Grotto for a veggie sandwich to share and head out to Francis. It was a beautiful day and we were content until the Sesame Street Family arrived.
There was a man with 3 or 4 kids that yelled for about an hour and a half. I know that he was just trying to keep the kids occupied but after an hour of listening to "We are going to swim to Canada! L, L, L is for Lydia. Lydia has chicken legs. Billy has donkey legs" I felt like I was on Sesame Street, Over and Over and Over. It was super annoying.

FYI- while you may think that you are just playing, not everyone in a 50 yard radius wants to hear you.

The beach was lovely though and we had a visting Iguana.

We head back to the house for some pool time, reading, and napping.

Since it was Sunday we headed in to town to meet some forumites at the Beach Bar. I was too busy gabbing to take any pictures, except one, but we had a great time meeting everyone.

We head to Cafe Roma (I used to work there) so I was excited for a good meal. They were very slow so we scored a window seat and we waited. Our server was terrible, just not good at all. Dinner was good, especially the artichoke, gorgonzola ,garlic bread but our waitress was just so bad that it was almost comical.

We head back to Ilios for a swim and some cards and get to bed early....again

Chip just read my report and said that I seem a little angry today :o

It really was a great day, I mean, I was on STJ, it could not be bad.

I don't think you sound angry. I completely understand where you are coming from regarding the family at the beach. As you said, "while you may think that you are just playing, not everyone in a 50 yard radius wants to hear you." It's called "urban tribalism" - people take their tribe with them wherever they go and act like they would at home, not even being conscious of how their acts influence others around them.

You don't have to be angry to think that way.

Oh yeah, and wild birds in the kitchen are not cool. I got pooped on at Trunk Bay... I don't think I'd like the same thing to happen in my kitchen!

I'm enjoying your trip reports and can empathize with you on the "urban tribalism" thing. Maybe they keep one or two tribal families on STJ and rotate them around to different beaches. We ran into a similar group on Jumbie last year and Trunk this year.

Do you have a link to your villa? I've never heard of it. Thanks for the reports. :)
