Continental direct out of Newark to STT?
Never done in personally, but wheels up to wheels down SJU-STT is only around 20 minutes. I've heard the views are spectacular. The 402's are operated by Cape Air - very good reputation. Cape Air also has operations in the Northeast U.S., Florida, Indiana, and Micronesia.Carolyn wrote:CA girl ... I quickly googled the cessna 402 I had to do a double take but thot about it only briefly and agreed w/ my husband that the ride ought to be interesting!!! The photo I looked at said it is a 6 seater....ahhhhh!!!I have been on little commuters before but never quite that small!
I definitely will report back on the experience!
Can anyone speak from first hand experience? I would imagine of all the places to fly in a little plane like that over all those gorgeous islands back to San Juan it will be quite spectacular.

I've been on that flight. VERY interesting landing. VERY short "runway" - I felt like we were literally nosediving!susan & herb wrote:We have taken an 8 seater from St Martin to St Barts. It was the best ride. In bad weather it might not be too smooth but the views are great. I liked it better than a regular plane.
Note the GRASS out the windows...

CA girl...that is the exact attitude I am taking! I think the views will be fantastic and photo ops abound. Many years ago we took a helicopter tour of Kauai. I was thrilled, scared, but most of all exhilarated by the experience and I have never forgotten it. So I am all for the experience in the Caribbean .
We generally fly out of EWR on a Friday so we have to do the connection in San Juan and hop on the Cape Air plane. I don't mind it one bit. It is small, but once you are in the air and look all around and viewing all of the surrounding islands, water, etc. it is beautiful. Last year I had the "co-pilot" seat and I thought perfect! I will start recording (using my camera) the landing. I thought I got the entire landing, when we got to the airport and I looked at my camera I had it on the picture mode, not the movie one! All well.
All and all I was nervous getting on this plane at first but you get used to it.
