I have no pets, because John and I both have allergies, but this is my "office pet." He comes by once a week or so. I like looking at him as long as he is not eating anything. One time he came by with a pigeon for his lunch...it was really icky.

Brenda - did Missy have blue eyes? Do deaf cats understand sign language? Of course they do, but prefer not to pay attention...[/quote]

Missy had green eyes and was not deaf although you are right, cats definitely have selective hearing  . I've heard that before about white cats with blue eyes being deaf. If anything, my cats have "bionic" ears. The can hear a can opening from anywhere in the house.

I have really enjoyed seeing everyones pets! Is that Whitman eye-balling a bowl of shrimp? .

Here were my pets, if you consider fish and corals pets. I recently gave up the hobby as it takes up a lot of time to make sure they had a happy environment. Also, it was getting difficult to find someone willing to stop by the house to look after the tank when I traveled.

Jimm, all I can say is WOW! Your tank is beautiful. I wish I had the time and patience to have a saltwater tank.

I had a white cat with one green eye and one blue eye. According to everything I read, he should have been deaf only on the blue eye side, but he was completely deaf as a post!! I do believe he understood our own version of sign language, though. Sometimes he would go into our tiled entryway and yowl and yowl, we figured he could sort of hear his voice in there as it echoed. We had him for 12 years before he died from feline leukemia. The perils of having an outdoor cat. Now our kitties are all "indoor" cats with occasional forays out into the patio for supervised outside time.

Jimm - Your aquarium was gorgeous! We used to have fresh water aquariums and I know how much work they were...I know salt water takes a lot more attention. If I were to ever have a tank again, it would be salt water with a weekly maintenance contract! LOL!

When I was a kid we had a white cat with blue eyes and she could hear fine. She was a great cat and quite stunning.

All I can say about that aquarium too is WOW! That must have taken some dedication.

Margo,
Our cats our strictly indoors as well with the exception of Missy and Woodrow who went out occasionally and totally supervised on the deck. Can't blame them for wanting to get a little fresh air. Missy had this ritual that she did. She loved to do her little walk around the pool and then lay down next to us sitting outside. The Bengal is just way too neurotic to stick anything but her nose out the door  . She only likes myself and Woodrow. Not even really my husband  . Missy was my husbands little "stalker".

Here are my 2

This is Zoe although we never call her that. It is either Zozo or the Zozo Bean or just the bean. She was a rescue we brought home about 4 years ago when she was about 6 months old. She was stabbed in the left eye with a stick and has no sight in it, but it does not lessen the Terrier spirit in her.

This is Josey the queen. She is 9 and Chip had her before we met so there was a struggle for us for a few years. She hates little kids and cats (which annoys our 13 year old barn cat to no end) She is impossible to get a picture of, hence the blurred shot

The cat people in the office just spent the past 6 minutes laughing. The non-cat people just don't get it.

Hope that this works, California girl helped me out. She was so nice to do it.
This is our new yellow lab that we picked out yesterday. She will be coming home to us on June 16th.
She's mellow and loveable. The first time I picked her up and she started to kiss me I knew she was the one that I wanted. Her name will be Tessie. I have been a Red Sox fan all my life and this is a tribute to them.Image
