The Airfare torture is OVER!!

Post by Gromit »

Greetings all!

Thanks to all of you for guidance on when to purchase. I just paid more for my airfare than I have in recent memory but the NPR story this AM on AA cutting back flights to the caribbean pushed me over the edge, plus Barnako's reference to the Wall Street Journal made the decision even easier.

But for anyone who cares, I decided if I had to pay that much I'd make it worth my while. You know I gotta work the system!

Since I have a Platinum Amex I decided to go with Delta thru Atlanta (IAD-ATL-STT). The Platinum card will allow us to use the Delta Lounge, plus I got double points for booking on line. Might as well!!!

Anyway, at least it's paid for and after all (as ScubaGirl told me) "It's only money."

Now, I can stop stressing and just look forward to our umpteenth trip to our favorite place in the world!!

Hugs to all who offered their sage advice!

I just didn't want to rick prices going thru the roof and even at $490 each it was still an OK (just OK) price. PLus I was able to leverage the other stuff by using my Amex.

Plus, not having to think about it anymore is kind of a relief!!

Well, I took the bull by the horns, and broke down and bought tickets. $470 each from EWR to STT, but it's a direct Continental Flight both ways. That's gotta be worth something.

The thing that was really holding me back was that last Aug and September the rate from EWR to STT went down to $189 each. I wonder what the chances are that that will ever happen again. With my luck, if I didn't buy now, it would go up to $700 or $800 per person.

So it's done!!!!!!! Now I can start obsessing about booking flights for the April 2009 trip.
