Villa Questions Renters Should Ask
Important!!!***&^%$
Ask the management company to explain their security deposit policy. We got stuck for a broken lamp because the agent came back to us for $180. We thought we were covered with the non-refundable fee of $35.00.....unfortunately we were wrong.

PJ -- You cannot use the water if there is no power because the pump that takes water from the cistern and pressurizes it for the faucets , showers and toilets is electric.
A bucket of water from the pool poured in the toilet bowl will flush the toilet, no problem.
I don't know if these rental villas have generators which is why I said ----------- ask?
Many homes will have oil lanterns or at worst, candles for emergency light but generally have a flashlight by the bed.

I figured that one out already. It's the distance between where I'm sitting and the kitchen counter/fridge!cptnkirk wrote:How far is the nearest bar

Waterguy - I saw a sign in the bathroom at Soggy Dollar that said something like that, but I can't remember now what it was. It rhymed and was funny, though. First I'd heard of that rule.

When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Kentucky, because everything there happens 20 years after it happens anywhere else. – Mark Twain
Heh heh...I could add "Will there be lizards watching me in the bathroom? Two of them? BIG ones?? EVERY DAY??VickiH wrote:Will there be lizards watching me in the shower?
Sorry....recent personal experience....
Good thing that was the extra bathroom...
I don't ask questions before I get there...I don't know why. One thing I really appreciate once at the house though, is being shown where all the light swtiches are! I once rented a house that I never figured out how to turn on the outside lights at, and this past trip at one house it took me three days to find the pool light. (Yeah, I could have called but I'm lazy).
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I don't ask too many questions either. I figure if it has a coffee maker and a pool, I can make everything else work. As a former villa manager, you would think that I have high expectations, but surprisingly they are fairly low.
Last year I stayed in 2 houses that I will not stay in again. One was very nice, just not my style and the other was horrible, but the price was right and I was onisland so how bad could it have been?
(just for the record it was bad, but I still managed to enjoy myself)
