How's the water?

Post by jaycimarie »

When islandchef and Dark&Diet came back from STJ in early March they said the water was pretty cold. When we went last year in June the water was warm. We're going in 11 days so I'm just curious... How's the water feeling now?

I was on STJ last week and I thought the water was great. Of course, that's comparing the temperature to the NJ shore

Forcast for the water around St. John for the rest of the year is, it will be fairly wet and pretty salty. The forcast remains, that it will be getting darker towards sundaown and lighter at day break.....

I am just joking...a litle humor...I know, dam little, but seriously, I think it is very relative, like Bug said, it was warm to her, I might find it to be cool coming from Texas, where it is always warm (water, air, everything). I recommend wearing a rash guard, no matter where you are from. to protect you from the tropical sun, and it is warm to wear while snorkeling.

Just MHO...

I was there mid month and it was fine. Everyone was in the water and I didn't even see "half suits" at all.

The water's fine, jump on in! Small sweel from the north side heading in, but temp is luscious right now.

I dove the weekend before last, it was 76 degrees at ninety four feet on the north shore of St Croix. So my guess would be that the beach temps will be just fine. :)
Enjoy your stay.

I was there last week and thougth the water temp could be a little chilly when the sun was behind the clouds. But it didn't keep us out of the water!

I get cold easily and the water didn't bother me a bit. When I got out and there was a light breeze I did want a quick towel off.

One day someone in our party said they were chilly in the water. I think maybe it was from too much sun the day before. We brought spf 50 and reapplied a couple times. Sunscreen for us northerners is crucial.
