STT for dinner
We will be spending our last night in stt before we leave to go home
I hope to find some place nice for dinner (it will be mother's day so I'm sure that is a busy day for dining) any suggestions

My fav restaurant is the Banana Tree Grill in Bluebeard's Castle. You will need reservations for Mother's Day I am sure! In my opinion the Old Stone has finally succumbed to way overpricing, way under feeding and the menu pretty much is too eclectic for a normal palate. All those "tasting" and wine pairings...I do like unusual combinations and trendy foods, but whoa....I live in NYC and even there it is not as expensive as this restaurant.

Another vote for the Mafolie as well. If you are staying downtown or at the Airport there are also allot of choices in Frenchtown. Hook Line, Bella Blu, Betsy's Bar, Epirnay, Craig & Sally's, Oceania. Let us know were you are staying and how nice or casual you want and it can be narrowed down.martini girl wrote:We loved Mafolie. Breathtaking views and fabulous food, reasonably priced as well. I could sit at their bar all night long!

Sorry to hijack a bit, but rather than start a new thread I thought I would ask my STT dinner questions here.
1. What is the name of the restaurant in Yacht Haven Grande that is wine-focused? Not Wikked...the other one. And, most importantly, is it any good?
2. Has anyone eaten at Off the Hook recently? I have not been for at least three years.
3. Indigo...that's over by Secret Harbour, right? I think they got a new chef. Is it still tasty?
Thank you!

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Thanks mia, that's it. I was able to find their menu online. I don't know...maybe I am just grumpy today. Their food might be something I'd probably want to eat at home, but it sounds too rich and heavy for the island. John wants to go over to STT for a meal, so I'll keep looking for someplace I think we'll both like.

I know that Indigo is at the Magens Point Resort and was REAL good when I went last Summer. They've been take over by the folks from the Old Stone Farmhouse, so the menu/style has changed I believe.
Hopefully Poohwear will see this and comment on the change.
Blue Moon Cafe is at Secret Harbour and is a nice place for dinner as well.
Not sure if you like Asian; but I have heard good reviews about Lotus at American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook. I want to try there myself in June.
Don't know much about the CA places as I usually hang around the East end. Have the Banana Tree on my list to try though.
Enjoy and Happy Friday!!

Another vote for Mafolie. Awesome food service and views ( overlooking CA and Harbor). Second choice is Blue Moon right on the beach at Secret Harbor. Same comments as for Mafiole and a great sunset spot. If your not very concerned with the view for this dinner then there are many others several of which have been mentioned.
