Hitchhikers on St. John
Hitchhikers on St. John
As you all know we pick up hitchhikers every time we come across one. Yesterday we picked up a guy name Fuego (yes, he's a fire dancer and swallower). His girlfriend's name is Sandwich (no kidding). He invited us to a party at Catherineburg to see him perform. They were going to have "Magical Mushroom Tea"...Anyone remember the magical mushrooms??? We declined after dropping him off and laughed our asses off all the way to Cruz Bay..

You went the wrong way. You should have gone with them!

No kidding!! That's what I said when I heard her name ... she was working at Low Key Watersports when we were there in February. It must have been Fuego who came in to see her when we were there one day.bevm wrote:... Yesterday we picked up a guy name Fuego (yes, he's a fire dancer and swallower). Funny, they didn't offer us any of the MMT ... might have had something to do with us diving?!?

What an interesting little story
That would have been cool to see some firedacers perform at Catherineberg, on shroom tea or not. Would have made an awesome YouTube video eh?

As tempted as I would have been to find out what a "magical mushroom party" was like, my mind would have instantly imagined me waking in a stupor the next morning, completely divested of my wallet and rental car. I probably would have passed on the offer as well, and then spent the next 20 years wishing I'd accepted.
We also pick up hitchikers from time to time in the Caribbean. Picked up a nice guy in Aruba once (see - I lived to tell about it!) and picked up a guy from Alaska who was living at Maho on St. John. I can't say I didn't envy the guy's freedom. Is it too late for me to leave it all behind and live at Maho?

We pick people up occasionally. Not often, but sometimes. I remember one time we picked up a young guy at Maho and gave him a ride into town. He was just chilling in the back seat when all of a sudden he YELLED at the top of his lunngs: "DUDE! It's ladies night at Duffys!!" Erm, OK. Thanks for sharing.
He was a nice young guy though.
