Cobblestone Beach

Post by brenda »

Is this beach on the way to Ram Head? I have seen pictures of it, but not quite sure where it is. If so, how far from Salt Pond? Thanks.

Last year, we walked from Salt Pond to Cobblestone Beach, lugging our snorkeling gear. Yes, its on the way to Ram's Head. It seems like it was about a 20-25 minute walk from Salt Pond beach. It was an easy walk, but rocky. The snorkeling off Cobblestone Beach was wonderful. Water was deep with lots of big fish. We went to the right as you are standing on the beach looking at the water. The snorkeling was well worth the walk and we would do it again. It was a bit of a pain getting in and out since its all rocks and no sand. Be careful of urchins in the rocks.

Blue Cobblestone was my favorite snorkel in October. I highly recommend it. It's even worth the crummy hot walk up from Salt Pond!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Thanks for the info! So it sounds like we start the trail to Ram Head and we will run into it?

The walk is relatively easy. I thought that the first part was the most difficult, stepping over stuff along the Salt Pond shore before you start to climb. I did it it very quickly while my wife walked up to the Jeep from Salt Pond.

Once there, really regretted not having more time and not bringing snorkel gear.

Definitely on the next trip list!
