Anyone affected by the recent AA announcement?

We always buy insurance when we travel. We had to collect on it once for a cruise we had to cancel.

This past Monday we bought CSA insurance for all eight of us and it ran about $50 per person. We have aged parents 96 and 87 yrs old, who are not going with us. They are in pretty good health right now, but you never know what might happen to them (or us).

I like that the insurance also covers accident, illness, and medical evacuation for us while we are on the trip. If you buy CSA be sure to give the production code so that VIOL gets credit.

just an FYI....flew home last night (*sob*!) and all was well at the AA desk at STT...no lines, no delays, no problems.

I think the checks are just on the MD-80 aircraft. I'm thinking the flights out of STT are probably 757's. I just checked my Delta flights and I fly an MD-88 into ATL and a 757 into STT.

Just saw that AA has canceled even more flights today. I would not want to be part of flight crew. No work. No pay this month.

I just read in the St. John Source that AA does not operate any MD-80s into the Virgin Islands. So, unless your connecting flight is one, and assuming these inspections stay limited to this model of plane, we all should be fine.

I agree. There are many reasons to purchase travelers insurance. To me, it's well worth the cost for my peace of mind. Now if I was going to FL or something then no but to the Virgin Islands or anywhere out of the country. MOST DEFINITELY! I think it's worth it alone just for the medical evacuation coverage. I pray we never need it but I feel better knowing that we have it.

BTW, we also fly AA in June. And we do fly on an MD-80 for one of the legs of our journey. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that all goes smoothly for everyone!!!
