FYI- there is also an online version of their April 2008 magazine that has STJ restaurantreviews...I know, I know, you already saw it in your delivered copy...yeah, me too...
Cheers-

Well Vicki, the Dove thingy must be a distant memory by now. I think many on this forum will agree that you probably have a good shot at this judging from your posted work. Good luck. :)

I saw ~5 pics from STJ in the 2007 contest photos (including the std trunk bay photo...but some of the photos I've seen on this forum would blow them away. Liamsaunt- I think you have a northshore view shot that would be an awesome entry... I'll see what I have after my trip to Aruba in a week and STJ in June...I'll probably submit a few...

Thanks for the compliment Steve, you sure make a girl feel proud, but after getting the 1099 for "award income" from winning that Dove trip .....I don't EVER want to win a trip again. Heck, I could have gone around the freakin' world for what they say that trip to NY cost....

Vicki, I guess I never realized that people have to pay taxes on that sort of thing, that's terrible! Did they warn you up front about a massive tax bill or was it a big unwelcome surprise?

Your pictures are truly amazing though, even if you don't want a "free" trip :)

But that said, the word about STJ is getting out, which is bringing crowds, so for purely selfish reasons I'd rather it not win in this kind of contest.

And speaking of the taxes paid, I believe it is also on the full retail price of the item. So if you win a car worth 25K that you could have purchased for 20K you pay the taxes on the 25. But then again that's cheaper than paying the 20K

Yep, you pay taxes on the retail value. Seriously, I paid more in TAXES for the $800 haircut & color they sent me for than I pay my stylist. Crazy.

Back to the topic though, there are some really great photographers on this forum - Ken, Liamsaunt, BasUR, JMQ....I think any one of them could win that trip. Better them than me! :D
