Drinking while walking
Drinking while walking
How strict are the St. Thomas/St. John Police on drinking alcohol while walking around? Also, how often do peolpe get pulled over by the Police while driving?

I'm not advocating public intoxication (much) or drinking and driving, but, here's our experience. We often get our cocktails "with legs" and walk around Cruz Bay. Never had an issue. Same with having it in the car.
Actually, I have a little system that Marcia doesn't know about...shhh....don't tell her. The two cup holders on Jeep Wranglers we have rented are one behind the other, instead of side by side. If we order two Bushwackers for the ride home, I put hers in the front cup holder and mine behind it. I make sure that I have drunk mine down a bit. Then, when we go up that steep hill getting out of Conrad's parking lot...viola, hers magically flows into mine. I get a refill and she wonders if she's too drunk to remember what happened to all of hers.
What? Try it, it works.

Nice one Pete, but I can never get NoTanLines to put her drink down.
I don't encourage walking around town with a beer in your hand, but I always have a koozy in my pocket in case the opportunity arises. Cap's has 2 for $3 Presidente's at the carryout window and Woody's does $2 Presidente's as well as blender drinks at their carryout window.
As far as driving, I've been through roadblocks during the day twice at the intersection of Gifft Hill Road and Centerline Road. Both times I had a bottle of beer in my cup holder and both times they waved us through when they saw we had our seatbelts on and current registration. Both times I was driving 20mph on the wrong side of the road and there was no problem. You should be fine as long as you use good judgement; if you don't a fine and a visit to the pokey will be the least of your problems.
Cheers, RickG

Walking around with a drink is fine. If your driving, make sure you are WEARING YOUR SEATBELT and I doubt you will have a problem. I have only seen two roadblocks in 13 trip and as long as you were wearing your seatbelt they way you through. Also, no talking on your cell phone, it's the "new" reason to stop some one, let your passenger do the talking.

So, while driving with open beverages, all I have to do is keep the beverage within my reach. Ohhhhhhh, that's easy.
Pete, now that I know your secret to scarfing off of my beverage you will have to make up for what you took off the top, when we get home. ; )

Um, if I think I understand what you are implying...you still owe me. That's okay, you can pay it off over time.Marcia (Mrs. Pete) wrote:So, while driving with open beverages, all I have to do is keep the beverage within my reach. Ohhhhhhh, that's easy.
