We're booked for our 1st stay on STJ!!
Okay, we finally made a decision for my hubs 5oth b-day STJ vacation for Feb 2009...10 of us @ Vistaero and boy am I ecstatic that the villa choice = "punishment" has been put to rest!!
OMG...never thought it would be sooo difficult cuz hubs and I have traveled and stayed enough places and done our own planning. Pressure was on for this group though. Anyway, hopefully that was the hardest part of the planner duties?!!
I'll have ?'s for all you seasoned STJ visitors and residents as time goes on I'm sure. Now thinking about shipping some dry goods, etc down there instead of paying high prices, spending precious island time grocery shopping and schlepping a bunch of dry goods around...any pros/ cons to that plan???
A couple of villas on our short list...Chateau Margot and Tesori have gone way up in rates for 2009
We'd much rather spend more $$$ on fun than the house.
Thanks in advance for any replies to pros/cons of ship ahead.

Kathy.....it looks fab! We just came back a few weeks ago and stayed down the hill a bit, to the right in the Hart Bay part of Rendezvous..we loved it. Great view, great breezes, great sunsets and close to town, but quiet.
I know how nervewracking it can be choosing a villa on behalf of a group..I had that priveledge too, but it looks as if you've done well!
Stay tuned to this forum and you'll learn everything you need to know. Oh, and buy Feet, Fins and Four Wheel Drive....it's priceless.

You can get everything you need on island. If you have have specific things that you want to have then you can bring/ship.
For our trip last year we shipped a box ahead w/ cofee, crackers, nuts, granola bars, etc. Our main reason was that we had someone traveling with us that was allergic to sea salt and most snacks are made with it. We wanted to make sure that he had snacks.
If we ship ahead this trip, it will be our snorkle gear and a few other things so that we can do carry on only.
Many people ship and many people don't. It is a matter of preference. You can pay for shipping, which can be costly or you can pay a bit more at the store. I think it even out.
