Grand Cayman notes and pics
We just returned from a long weekend at Grand Cayman. Our group included our family of five, plus our daughter's friend. Please excuse the picture quality. I have edited them, but can't transfer the edited pictures to photobucket, therefore these are the originals. The color and clarity is soooo much better with the edited versions. Also, lots of kid shots ... sorry
Our trip started out rough ... cancelled flight due to "no crew", delayed flight due to de-icing, missed flight(due to previous) .... spent our first night of our vacation in Atlanta (paying for our room there + our condo that we weren't in)
Here was our view that night

... anyway ...
Once we finally arrived we had a much better view

Our condo at The Grandview:

Our favorite things:
Snorkelling:

Stingrays: (Thanks to CG's recommendation, we went with Captain Jimmy Ebanks ... awesome!)

Kids:

The public beach was nice.

Food:

Warm weather and beautiful views!

To summarize:
This was a great long weekend for us. It was our first trip here and we had a great time. St. John ... it's not. Grand Cayman is very flat. The water is beautiful and there are some very nice areas. We stayed at the southern end of seven-mile beach and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The central area of SMB seemed very crowded to me. I really like the less-developed areas around the east end and north side. It was a great place for us to take the kids, but I don't know that we will go back. We are going back to St. John in June (without kids) and I'm already thinking about our next trip there (with kids).

Hey! It looks and sounds like you had a great time! I so agree about "St. John it's not", but I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to go there at least once in my life.
It's great that you chose to go to Stingray City with Capt. Jimmy! Isn't he a character?! Love him! Your pictures are awesome! All that beach and no one else in sight! So THAT'S what I was missing from the road! LOL!

Hi Kygirl!
Thank you for your pictures. How lucky you must be to have three so very charming children. In the pictures just before the food pictures, you can see that the dark girl's smile is just like yours.
I'm sorry that Grand Caymann is so far away for us. Already when I read CG's report I was ready to try this trip with the stingrays. And more now.
BTW - have you ever tried the free Picasa? It's SO easy to edit and afterwards transfer the pics to the webalbum.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures.
Marybeth, I like that one too!
CG, Captain Jimmy was great! We had a ball with him and the stingrays! That beach IS what you missed from the street, but I can certainly see what you saw too!
Linne, I have heard that a couple of times about her smile.
Thank you! I will have to try Picassa! Thank you for the tip! It always takes me so long with the pictures ... download, edit, move, ...
