Fresh Fish

Hi Again, I'm a little embarrased
Can't get my ticker thingy to show up....o well....we will be on St. Thomas Feb. 25 and then move to St. John March 4 til March 15....
I thought I saw somewhere on the forum a post about getting fresh fish at 'the docks'....has anyone ever done this? from whom? Thanks

There is sometimes fresh fish for sale across the street from the old car ferry dock--near Caps PLace and the Lumberyard. It's not there every day, and it's always something different. I've seen tuna and lobsters...the one time I actually stopped to buy some it was kingfish which I don't like.

You can also get fresh fish (sometimes!) at the Fish Trap market, next to the restaurant. Last year we had some terrific tuna, mahi mahi, and snapper from there.

Starfish market also has fish, but I've never thought it looked that great.

Heyyyyyyy, wait a minute......you are going to be there for three weeks??? I think you should be giving us some advise on where to go and get things after you get there! Yes, I am jealous....I wish I could go for three weeks, but alas, I am not able to swing that long.

Seriously, if you have any insight when you get back, we'd love to hear about it! A trip report would be great, with pictures, fantastic!

Thanks liamsaunt for the fresh fish info....we have purchased fresh fish from the Fish Trap market in the past....it was ok....I was intrigued by the posting I saw regarding getting the fish from 'the docks'....I'll definitely check it out this year and maybe try the Fish Trap market once again. We are actually bringing so much food we may not have a meal left for fresh fish!!!!! Seriously, this year we will be 11 with two newbies along.
CariBert and Pianogirl, I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. We have been vacationing on St. John for the last 7 years in a row. I think we love it!!!
It is amazing though how much new information there is to be learned on this forum.
Everyone is so helpful and thoughtful and I appreciate everything I've learned.
