What a great forum!

I agree with taking the Charlotte Amalie for the reasons above and additionally it is less of a circus.

We used our neat sheets a lot. I wouldn’t be without them.

Ditto RickG—get rid of half of the clothes!!!! But Rick I would never let my kids pack their own clothes!! I honestly believe that my 14 YO would pick up what is on the floor and call it good.

We also stayed at a villa and eat there a lot so we brought a cooler for meat. What I did was season the food and put it in a ziplock and freeze it. It was so simple to just throw it in the fridge and it was good to go on the grill. Our villa had a lot of seasonings so I probably could have prepared it in the villa but it was nice to have it done.

If you don’t bring a cooler then I would suggest trying to travel with carry-on’s only—we did that on a recent trip and it was so easy!! I am not sure what we will do on our next trip because the cooler is handy also. We will probably check because the cooler of meat was so helpful . . . but if you don't I think you would be glad to only have carry-on's.

I am a “super planner”—when we go we know what we are doing-usually only half the day is an excursion and the other half is chillin’ at the pool or beach. That doesn’t work for everyone but it works for us. We know in advance what we are doing and have read all of the reviews and feel confident that we will have a good time.

On our first day we had Pam Gaffin (author of the feet, fins, and 4WD book) take us for a full island tour--so informative. We learned so much from her and really appreciated the locals and island from her stories. Also, getting around was simple after she showed us. I highly recommend it. www.pamgaffin.com PS I don’t get paid and haven’t kept in contact . . . this is just an honest suggestion.

Lauri what is a gorilla pod??

I love this tip—I will do it next time:

Tip 5: Pack all your clothes in large Ziploc bags. Your clothes will not get messed up from the security search (and they will be searched). The bags always seem to come in handy during the week too.

Great tips everyone! I used RickG's website to prepare--Thanks Rick!
