Anguilla / St. Martin

Post by LC »

We're planning a trip for June, and thought I'd check and see if anyone has any recommendations for hotels/restaurants/etc. We're going to stay in St. Martin for 2 nights on our way in, then 5 nights in Anguilla. Would like to stay in French St. Martin, close to Orient Beach if possible - would like to spend less than $220 per night on the hotel. As for Anguilla, I think we like the look of the Shoal Bay area...less than $200 per night on the room. Would like to stay at Cuisinart or Cap Jaluca, but my wallet can't handle that! LOL

Any tips are welcome - thanks!

My brother and his wife just got back from St. Martin. I can't help you with accomodations because they rented a villa. If you have any other questions though, I might be able to help. I know that they really enjoyed the food there! There is also an article in the March issue of Caribbean Travel and Life magazine on food in St. Martin. Good luck with your plans!

Heres a site about Orient beach.http://www.orientbeach.com/ Did Orient about six years ago and it is my second favorite next to St John. We stayed at Cap Cairiebs Nice place small kithcen right in the middle of the beach. Great for people watching. I'm sure you allready know it's clothing optional. For good snorkeling head to Pinel Island just off of Orient beach. There is a small dead reef out by the floating dock at Club Orient that has some fish right off of Orient. Dawn beach also has good snorkeling but can be rough.

Thanks, guys! I knew I could get some feedback here. Cptnkirk - my husband was interested in Cap Caireb, so I'm glad to know that you liked it there. The location does look great, we kind of want to be in the middle of things while in St. Martin, then just totally veg out and relax in Aguilla.

Orient Beach is over-rated. Find a place in Grand Case. The food is great with lots of restaurants on the beach. Then motor over to Baie Rouge, Plum Bay, or Long Bay - these are spectacular carribean beaches. At Baie Rouge, the workers from Marigot come at lunch, remove clothes, sun & Swim. It's a local beach, like Maho. Orient is on the Atlantic side and can be windy with rough water.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
